Food & drinks: The food is excellent. Very well presented.

I gave the rooms 3 stars purely because the windows in our room were in urgent need of updating and some hooks on the back of the doors for robes or towels would have been really helpful....other than that an absolutely fabulous place and will definitely be returning ❤️

We went for an afternoon high tea. Which was lovely. A wide variety of food. Staff friendly. Good price.

Booked afternoon tea for a birthday treat. Arrived ten minutes early, two or three other tables occupied.Asked if we wanted a drink, explained we would have tea with afternoon tea. One of the four of us ordered roast chicken, which may have caused some delay. Our afternoon teas arrived , but with no plates or tea. We sat and patiently looked at it ( it looked superb), whilst the tasty little hot bits went cold.We had to ask for plates, then ask for tea. The afternoon tea was nice, apart from hard cold scones ( had they been in the freezer?), and the belly pork was tasty, but would have been so much nicer hot.The actual tea came without hot water, and when we asked for more tea, we didn't get more milk.I believe that waiting or waitressing means waiting and watching out for anything the customer needs - I did it myself for many years. The lovely young ladies working there didn't appear to have had much training.

After finding the place in what seems like a lodge park. The car park was overflowing with what looked like a big party on. Checked in at the bar then had to weave through the party goers plus those sitting with dogs. Up the stairs to the room above. Small to say the least. Strange layout. The window blind needed to be inside the window, not on the wall outside the window. In the morning, the light streams in, and the head of the bed is next to the window. Of course, they want you out by 1000, so that might be the reason behind it. Someone decided to leave the Inn at 1:50am in one of the old classic cars which was just outside our window. Classic line at breakfast you can sit anywhere. Sorry, not there ?. I think we'll give it a miss if we are back in the area.

Midweek lunch. Quite busy, so advisable to book your table. Food tasty and well presented. I thought that the salmon portion was a bit small, but still very enjoyable. Other mains, steak pie and trio of sausages were spot on! Desserts were good quality and yummy.Selection of cask ales including Landlord (my favourite!).Not our first visit. Recommended.

Had to give one star to start but not worth even that. Have been many times over the years living only a couple of miles away. We went with a local group for our annual lunch but if they go again which I doubt we will not be with them nor will most of our friends. Bear in mind we had pre-booked so they knew exactly what to prepare. We seemed a little late in starting but that should not make much difference. It was either 2 or 3 course lunch with choice of 3 in each of starter, main and desert so no great pressure there. Wifes starter arrived along with a couple of others on our table but mine did not. Not to worry 2 others were waiting too. Turns out I was the only one waiting the other 2 were skipping starters. Luckily I said for the others not to wait. They had finished when mine arrived.Main course, my pie hard pastry and covered in a splodge of dried mush peas accompanied by what seemed like yesterday's chips covered in gravy. Who servs them like that? If you want serve them with a little jug of gravy. It was not hit when it arrived having not been heated properly. The others said not to wait. I had finished mine when most of the others were served, 2 were even longer, as apparently there was some problems cooking the salmon.Deserts were served but the wife and I had chosen to miss that one. Two of our table chose the mess. Looked nice but no meringue, apparently although they knew how many were ordered the had run out. My 2 friends were offered a packet biscuit instead. They could not eat what the described to me as a glass of cream with a spoon of tinned raspberry jam mixed in.I think just about everyone skipped coffee.Never again.P.S. didn't hear that ask anyone if everything was alright as usually would have happened.

Been here lots of times and hadn't had a bad meal until now. Both myself and my wife had takeout fish, chips and peas £16.50 each for barely anything, so disappointed.

Real Yorkshire hospitality, and this is from a Lancastrian. We stayed two nights and had a wonderful time. Dan, Dave and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. The adapted room was excellent, well designed, spacious and clean. Food was great value pud grub, good quality ingredients and cooked perfectly, as was breakfast. This was our third stay and we look forward to returning.Rooms: Spacious, well decorated, comfortable and clean.
