Prices vary when the black wearing barmaid notes you are a Southerner. Gin and Tonic varied from £7 something originally to £12+ later in the evening. Her blonde colleague was far more professional and should be Chief Bar.aid and Hotel Receptionist. The Dark haired one not only refused me parking onsite (a huge sign says free onsite parking) but worse charged +£20 for a one night stay with a dog in an allegedly 'dog friendly hotel'.Whatever the site was that my Partner booked through never mentioned a 'Dog Charge' and neither does th Hotel Website.Yes I will be making a complaint but for you innocents out there, do make sure of the terms and rules. Be especially careful of the dark haired barmade. She Price Gouges and should NEVER be allowed to operate as Receptionist. The rooms are as one might expect for such a hotel. You have been warned though.Rob McGuire

I couldn't fault the service from the staff, and the different beer choices were excellent. And you can take dogs in.Down points, I opened a tab as we were having drinks and food, and the barmaid was hesitant as, yes I did look a bit mucky as I'd been for a long walk. But to say to us, okay I'll open the tab just don't do a runner. As for the food, it was okay, just okay as the portion was tiny for the price. And proper dry. 3 table spoons of mash, 2 table spoons of peas and a small pie £13There is sky sports

Visited to spend time and have food with family visiting from London so only used the restaurant.Food was good quality and reasonably priced. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was lovely and the chips were so nice and crispy.I only have 2 issues but these weren't enough to ruin the evening. Food service stopped at 8pm which stopped me getting a pudding (this was our fault for being unfamiliar with the restaurant) and the tables around the pool table were close enough that the other customers using them had to dodge my pool cue a few times. Thankfully the other customers were accommodating and friendly about it but I can see how it would be annoying. All in all, worth a visit, just make sure you order food before 8pm ?

Rooms are a bit small, but the staff is always freindly and the bar has a great vibe.

Pleasant large pub in town centre. The food was reasonable and inexpensive and there is parking close by. We visited early on a Saturday evening and there were few customers. Perhaps it gets lively later? Dog friendly. It has some sport tv in the bars but I am not sure what the channel available is? We were not staying in the hotel..

Had food didn't stay full of football lads hardly anywhere to sit

Room a little small but great location in a lovely, small Northern town with great local people and excellent service. Will definitely come back here ?
Popped in here for lunch. Staff were friendly. Place was nearly empty at Sunday lunch time! Menu was basic, not a great deal of choice. I had butternut squash Wellington Sunday dinner, a friend had a burger. Burger came with chips and mayo, no salad or coleslaw and very basic, she said it was just ok. My Wellington was nice, but veg was average, roasties tasted frozen? Gravy was really think and tasted like if was from a packet mixed with boiling water. We added cauliflower cheese as a side, again ok, but a bit over cooked and stuck to dish. The chef did ask about vegetarian gravy etc. wuich was nice, we are not vegetarian so usual was fine and good that he checked in case. All edible and ok, but nothing special. I understand that everything has gone up, so happy to pay £14.90 for Sunday lunch, but there are plenty of way better options for the same price locally.

Would have been a 5 had it not been for the loud mouthed morons persistently swearing on a nearby table. Excellent pint.
