It’s not often we’re wowed but this has the wow factor. We loved our room and the service was amazing. Attention to detail was exceptional, we felt well and truly pampered. The only thing missing was a second night at the feathers

We stopped at The Feathers to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary having driven past it for the last 25ish years on the way to Scarborough to visit family. From the warmest of welcomes on arrival at reception to cheeriest checking out we loved our stay here for 2 nights. We had been given a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the market place and found a lovely chilled bottle of fizz with a lovely little note. We also found a lovely supply of treats for our dog. Once we had got settled in we went down for a meal in the restaurant that we had pre-booked a table for the Friday night which was very nice and filling. Breakfasts on both mornings was very nice and cooked with local produce. We went into the Pickwick bar which was full of local characters and had a great time. The only downside was that we couldn't get parked in the car park as there was a weeding on at the hotel but we parked in one of the streets off the market place so there was no charge for parking. The staff are so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, we would happily stay here again.

The best, friendliest Hotel I have ever stayed in. Clean, comfortable, good food and excellent rooms and staff. They certainly made my birthday special. Can't wait to go back again. All the staff are special. From Sheila Shaw

The Feathers is a perfect base and location for touring the Yorkshire dales. Helmsley is a lovely small town with plenty of choice for food and drink with interesting individual charming shops. The food at the Feathers was excellent, and our room was big and comfortable with wonderful toiletry extras. Attention to the little details was noticeable and appreciated.

I'm replacing a previous review with something a little more considered, that reflects the great service from the staff. I booked four rooms for my family to celebrate a milestone birthday and, up until Saturday night, the whole family were very pleased with the rooms, the little touches and the excellent care and service from some very dedicated staff. You went the extra mile to make it a great experience for all of the family and we thank you for that. Unfortunately, you had a disco running until midnight that was directly beneath our rooms and loud enough to prevent us from relaxing, sleeping, or even watching the TV. For the price we paid for our rooms, i don't think this was fair and we weren't given any indication upon booking or checking in, which somewhat ruined an otherwise excellent weekend. The response to my complaint was quick and heartfelt, so again, thank you. My review re-write is to recognise this and the nature of this single problem. I must therefore give you a couple more stars, however it really did have a negative impact on the weekend, so I'm really sorry... You would have had 5 stars without that problem.

Fab stay at the Feathers Hotel. The staff were superb, really friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The room was lovely with little extras like a coffee machine. Only small issue was the shower which had on an angled roof, so it was a bit awkward, but manageable and didn’t prevent us enjoying our stay.

This is a quaint B&B in Helmsley. Staff friendly, food quite good and right in the center of the town. Room was lovely and large with nice amenities. They give you a canister of cold milk when you arrive for you to have a spot of tea in your room! How cute is that!

This is a pub with lots of character and the staff are all excellent. The breakfasts are very good, but we had to ask for fruit and cereal. Our room was very small, but I believe most of the rooms are more spacious - it just happened that we booked late and there was a wedding party in, so we drew the short straw. Nice bathroom, although a strange shape! Food in the restaurant was good although not a very wide-ranging menu. I think this is the norm these days with staff shortages and inflation increasing the price of meat. My husband had a very nice spinach risotto which we hope to replicate at home.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome. Very impressed with our room which had lots of thoughtful extras not normally found. The room was very clean and cosy as was all areas of the hotel and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and would also recommend dining in the hotel in the evening. The location of the hotel was excellent in the heart of the village which was beautifull with lots of little shops, cafés and restaurants. A must is a visit to the walled garden and castle all within a short walk. Overall an excellent stay.

We had an awful time It began well - my 2 sisters & I & all our partners arrived for 2 nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant but when we went to bed room 15 we were woken by a loud repetitive mechanical noise. We rang & tried to find the 24 hour service man and messaged & emailed to no avail. When the desk opened we were told ‘oh yeh that happened last night & there was a complaint’ We asked to move rooms & were told full (not so as book.com showed) We had had little sleep & were exasperated so when we went down for breakfast (with our party) & our bags packed frustrated especially as supposed to be a treat as living in a camper we were told it wasn’t what he (deputy manager) was paid for he didn’t get enough money to deal with complaints - it was all about him. No customer service whatsoever. He ‘kicked us out’ his words & threatened to call the police - for what? A complete joke. We did leave and we received our money back & went over the road. It spoilt our celebratory weekend and was so unfair. We never complain - we are still in shock
