Visited Helmsley Spice last night as didn’t want to walk far in the pouring rain ( we were staying next door at The Feathers). We were not disappointed and can honestly say it’s one of the best Indian meals we have ever eaten, and we’ve had a few over the years. Best Indian (Bangladeshi?) meal we’ve had in a long time - really friendly accommodating staff and excellent freshly-made food. Good size portions with generous amount of meat/prawns/paneer in each, and delicious sauces that were all different - not the usual generic job you usually get. Ignore the olde worlde decor, and enjoy the food. The service is very gracious and helpful. The naan breads were freshly made and outstanding. The main courses were superb and very plentiful - go when you are hungry, or ask for a takeout of what you can't eat, which is what we did.On the downside, it does take a while to prepare the food but, if that means it is freshly made, it is worth the wait.
