Can see it would be very popular for food as was fully booked when we went so couldn't have food so just had a side of chips.Failry Expensive. Has beer garden but a bit run down.

we turned up without booking and little early before they served food . no problem , very friendly staff , ordered the " codfather " which was just fish and chips but a really big fish . It was delicious. others had pies and said they were lovely. can see why it's no1 on trip advisor. Only disappointment is we only came to Knaresborough for one day but easily the best pub we have visited on our holiday

Just stopped in for a drink as it looked like a lovely pub from the outside. On the inside it is very definitely that. A proper old world pub.

Great place nice staff food today not good yorkshire pud cold chicken I couldn't swallow as it was so dry and potatoes and veg under cooked would not recommend. Sorry.

We've not eaten here yet but we always come here for a drink and end up staying ages as its so cozy and the staff are always friendly . ?
Fantastic service, food was all fresh & made to order, generous portion sizes & very tasty!Specifically, Ollie made our visit very special as he knew it was my boyfriends birthday and went above and beyond for us & being super attentive.Thank you Ollie, we’ll definitely be back!

Very disappointing meal tonight. Had the fish and chips and the batter, particularly under the fish, was very thick and raw. Told the waitress but all she said was ‘it has been noted’ Won’t be eating there again. Neither will I recommend The Shipton. Not happy!

Couldn’t recommend Mother Shiptons more! We had a gorgeous meal here - beautifully cooked food and good portion sizes! Lovely atmosphere and we got well looked after by friendly staff! My fave was the pork belly starter, followed by a yummy roast and decadent chocolate truffle for pudding! Thanks so much! We’ll be back :)

Excellent place for something to eat and drink. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The fire is lovely and cosy. The outside river seating is great in the summer too.
