We came for Christmas day lunch in the Palmer's restaurant. The meal was OK, but there was a lack of attention to detail and it has put me off going eating out on Christmas day. Our party of 8 had issues such as:- No pigs in blankets as advertised- Other missing details from menu- Some food was cold coming out- Overcooked Turkey- Undercooked vegetables- overcooked Yorkshire pudding- Burnt parts of desertThe Beef main course option was excellent, as were the canapes and the starters.

I’d rather not be writing a review this way but after leaving the restaurant I feel extremely disappointed by the way our experience here went. Our waiter was Dean and at first, we found him alright but soon became somewhat obnoxious. One member of our party was made to feel stupid for asking for a red bull despite there being one on the menu. The food we received was fine however not worth the almost 2 hour wait. The portion size was not proportionate to the price of the food with the vegan gnocchi being the most expensive but by far the smallest size and left us still hungry. When the bill came it was incorrect. After questioning the wine we were charged, we felt humiliated when he gave us a demonstration of liquid volumes that would have been better suited to a year 1 classroom rather than a group of adults in a restaurant. Once this patronising demonstration proved we had been served a medium glass of wine but charged for a large, there was no apology. Then we noticed there was an extra starter on the bill that had to be refunded, again with no apology.

We have stayed at the hotel before and had a fantastic time. So we chose to take some friends for Sunday lunch. I wasn't disappointed. The main restaurant is decorated to a high standard with beautiful paintings and wall coverings. The food was of a very high standard and at a reasonable price. The staff were friendly and attentive. All in all, a great place to stay or just have a meal. Definitely going back.Nearby activities: The falls are less than 500 metres away. We'll worth a visit.

Whilst we have visited the falls on many occasions, we have never stayed in Aysgarth. We couldn't have chosen a better spot, particularly for our onward journey, from North Yorkshire to the LakesWe were warmly greeted and escorted to our accommodation. This was outside and adjacent to the hotel, with its own patio area and views across this spectacular valley. Unfortunately a little foggy for our stay. The room was very private with double doors opening onto a patio. Which would be great on a summer's morning. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was very nice with a large shower. We opted to eat in the bar area and the food and drink were very reasonable. Breakfast was had in the onsite Palmers restaurant which also has spectacular views of the Yorkshire landscape.Service was very good and came with a smile and warm chat.Overall a good experience and would return without question if staying in this area again.

Friendly and cosy. A great place to stop and have a delicious sandwich and pint after a bracing walk. We didn’t try the rooms, but 5 stars all round ?Walkability: Loads of walks nearby…be prepared to get muddy boots!Food & drinks: Tasty sandwiches and delicious beer by a cosy wood burner.Noteworthy details: Good to park up and view the waterfalls

Room was not that big but interior design and aesthetic styling was really good. We were lucky we still got the last room which was priced right. To top it all, the breakfast and service of all the staff (especially the lady at the restaurant) were excellent! Will definitely stay here again in any case id be in the area again.Nearby activities: Hotel is walking distance from the falls

Had a great stay at the Aysgarth Falls Hotel. We enquired if there was a room available for that night and got the last available one which was on the top floor, nicely refurnished and had a beautiful view. Staff were very friendly, food (both dinner and breakfast) was excellent, hotel has been renovated tastefully and the location is great. From our holiday we felt this was the best value hotel we stayed in for the price charged and quality of service delivered. Highly recommend.

Lots of stairs. Beautifuly refurbished some time ago but nothing is being kept up. Take room Bedale. Radiator does not work but a good fan heater has been put in the room. The roof blind is in poor condition and lets light in. The shower door has no runners and is damaging the sloping roof. The six ft bed has a five ft duvet. The two main male staff were working hard and very pleasant. However when I suggested plates could be left by the toaster instead of customers having to go back to their table for plates I was told that's how they did it. I didn't bother to point out that a slice of toast does not fit on the silly rimed side plate they use however much they are "designer" ware. I want to recommend for the good bits. But. And the staff work well and hard.
