Enjoyed a lovely spaghetti carbonara ordered 2 out of the 6 meals and was lovely, very creamy with chestnut mushrooms and diced gammon. Both meals went down a treat, other family members enjoyed steak and ale pies and mince and dumplings which arrived with fresh carrots mash and a Yorkshire pudding

Cannot believe how this place has gone down hill, totally filthy, foul mouthed person behind the bar arguing with a scruffy looking man.Turned out that’s the landlady Been here a few times last year had lovely food and drinks with lovely friendly staff, did come for food but was not going to eat here had a quick drink left most of it as the language was disgraceful will not be going back until these people are out of there

My boyfriend and I visited on Friday. He had fish and chips and I had the cheeseburger. He said that the fish was cold throughout, and the dry, oven chips were not any better. My burger looked like a frozen one, the cheese was like plastic and the bun was falling apart and stale. The chips were cold and neither of our salads looked appetizing. Nearly £20 per meal. Left feeling quite unwell, and will not be returning. So so disappointing.

Good beer (Black Sheep), good food and a very friendly landlady from the NE. Interesting locals. Proper pub decor. What more could anyone want ?

Absolutely will never return! They had no idea if they were serving food or not, should of been a red flag. Scallops & black pudding starter came with prawns, no one informed us that would be the case & we specifically ordered for the scallops. Beef was chewy & inedible Linguine was rock solid & covered in oil Only saving grace was the bread from our beef baguette ( which wasn’t a baguette) but actually quite nice bread No one came to check on us the entire meal, waiting staff seemed scruffy I work in the industry & pride myself on tipping regardless of service as I know the work that goes into everything, they did not get a penny out of my above what I had to pay, honestly avoid for food at all costs

Terrible Pub, Barman looked really scruffy and was unbelievably rude and unwelcoming, moaned when I wanted to pay cash for our drinks, very abruptly told me I hope you don't want to eat kitchen is closed, and was generally unpleasant, as was the surroundings, atmosphere. Would never recommend or visit again.

Always been a good pub with great handpull beers for me and a warm welcome for my dog Isthatgeorgefrommarton. Only had a Sunday lunch from the menu, but very nice. Great range of entertainment and Halloween ? just gone was epic, customers dressed up, Elvis n karaoke, it's what weekend's are for. Roge x n George xVegetarian options: Always availableDietary restrictions: Catered for, just askParking: Main street can get busy and 1 hour restricted. Not too far to walk to find free spots if you're in the know!Kid-friendliness: No worriesWheelchair accessibility: No problems, bar and lounge accessible

The fantastic smell of home-cooked cuisine and the ambience of a good ol' fashioned Yorkshire Inn hit us as soon as we entered. We enjoyed a fabulous meal and a smashing pint of Black Sheep. The kids food was not processed like in some places. Proper grub. On top of that we received great customer service from Claire, the land lady and Dave behind the bar. Nice family atmosphere.

Do not go in this place with your family. Really unfriendly and full of scrotes. Such a shame to see this old pub being run into the ground :(

Went for a few drinks with family after a day out. Spent the best part of £70 before being told rudely by female bar staff that my daughter could not eat in the pub (we would of purchased food in the pub but they weren’t serving today) very short sighted as we then had to leave our full drinks that we had already purchased in order for my daughter to eat her food!!!!! We would of stayed and spent more money in your pub but know we will not visit or recommend you to anyone.

The food was cold. The landlady allows her staff to take drugs. Got served by a scruffy guy with hardly any teeth and sniffing up ever 2 mins. Terrible they had no idea what they were supposed to be doing

The staff and landlady Clare were very friendly and welcoming. They had a singer on Ross M whiter who was part of the weekend of events. Great atmosphere a real community pub but welcome visitors to the town. Great afternoon. Highly recommend. We the the two couples who arrived early for the concert. Thanks Clare and team.

Visited for my Dad’s9nd birthday at the end of September. Pre-reserved portions of the steak and ale pie (which was very good). Landlady, Claire, very kindly provided a free dessert for Dad on his birthday. Very friendly staff, good food and very reasonable prices. Worth a visit!
