A few weeks ago my mother passed away. The staff know me as a daily visitor most of the time. When they saw I was upset , the staff paid for the coffee themselves. We had a short chat & their friendly smiles cheered me up a little. I get a smile & perhaps a short chat every day. & when it's your first Christmas in over 20 years. This is a regular coffee shop for us and whereas the service has always been good, the decor and cramped space didn’t do it any favours. We were pleasantly surprised therefore to find a brand new extension that gives it so much more room. The decor is also smart and modern and I understand that the next phase is to upgrade the original area. So now it is a roomy, smart branch of the chain with splendid views of the Market Place.

Amazingly this was the only establishment on the spacious Market Square that had outside seating ; given it was a beautiful day this was a key deciding factor on our choice of venue. The café seemed to be rather under staffed; that said it was a great cup of coffee.
