Very delicious, good portion sizes. Sweet mushy peas!

Oh. My. Goodness. What to say about Small Fry? One of my greatest worries is that the two ladies running it might retire one day, and the location of the best melt in your mouth chips and delicious mushy peas will vanish. They are part of the fabric of Scarborough, and have always the go-to fish and chip place for those in the know; my grandparents swore by them back in the 1980s, and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!I once asked how on earth they manage to make the chips so delicious, and they're so modest, but I gather most chip shops do not use Grade A potatoes, but they do. It's more than that though; they do something magical. Also, they fry in vegetable oil, for which I am eternally grateful. Thank you ladies, you are a pair of genuises!Vegetarian options: They fry in vegetable oil; unusual for the fish and chips shops in Scarborough, but oh so much more delicious :)

We parked nearby and decided to chance it based on busy take out. So so glad we squeezed into compact seating. Service was incredible, old school care. The lady took the trouble to cool the heated plates for the kids so they didn’t burn themselves!! Absolutely blown away by the polite and attentive service and the food was extremely good and extremely good value for money. Four chip butties for £16!! Delighted and we will be back!!

Looked on Google for a nice fish & chip shop & with the reviews me & my partner really wanted to go was a little bit of a walk but was definitely worth it, definitely recommend & when returning back to Scarborough will definitely go again. Was busy so that was a good sign, friendly staff & couldn't do enough for us. Had cushions for the chairs if you wanted, had hand sanitizer on each table, sachets of sauces with scissors if you couldn't open the sachets, seen to have thought of all the little things. Food and portions & the curry sauce was so nice!5*

Had the best cod and chips and pot of tea that I've had in such a long time. The customer service and attention to detail was second to none. You very rarely get that these days. Made me my daughter and grandson feel so valued and the cleanliness was 100% perfect. They genuinely looked after all the customers in there. All in all a lovely experience will definately go again. Went a few years ago with my mum and sister and was so nice to see the two sisters still there.

Both with a lovely sense of humour and wit and good old fashioned service. They have no access to Internet so are oblivious to the endless 5* reviews and they gain customers purely by locals and word of mouth. Tucked away on a side street, the only downside is parking is pot luck. Again because of no Internet they only take cash but they are a stones throw away from Scarborough Town centre. We had called before arriving as we were cutting it fine to get there before closing time. Even on the phone, nothing was too much trouble.Onto the food, we both had fish (haddock, fresh in that day) , chips and peas. The batter was beautiful, light and crispy, not the slightest bit greasy. Chips were fresh and flavourful, peas just slightly too sweet for our taste. We also had a roll which was spread with fresh butter not margarine. When asking for a can of coke the lady ensured she reached to the back of the fridge reaching for a cold one explaining she had just restocked it for the next day. They also have a restaurant open during daytime hours. This is definitely top of our list next time we visit Scarborough.

One of the best fish and chips we have ever tasted, we were in Whitby 3 weeks ago at the magpie let's just say either there under new management or their standards have dropped of a cliff.Just get over to Scarborough and see what fish and chips should taste like highly recommended

A fabulous traditional fish & chip shop with a little cafe attached. Fish & Chips can be served over the counter or in the little cafe ( 4 tables of 4). No reservations. They do have other options on the menu . The best fish and chips I’ve had for ages . The batter on the fish was so perfect and light I had to eat it all . Proper home steeped Yorkshire mushy peas which were perfect as were the chips . The place itself is immaculately clean. Lovely ladies that run it . A real treat ! Thank you ladies.

A warm welcome from the friendly, experienced staff. Bought haddock and chips for a fish supper to accompany the T20 Cricket Match. High quality fish, distinct white flakes, beautifully cooked, accompanied by excellent substantial chips. A brilliant meal to accompany an excellent England victory.

This small old timy fish and chip restaurant, is the best in Scarborough with its old fashioned owners who are very polite and kind.
