We stayed at this old hotel on 13 and 14 September. On the plus side the staff were all attentive and cheerful and the rooms were clean. On the down side there were many areas of the hotel which were somewhat shabby. The Landlord has only been there since May 2023 and is working his way through a long list of matters where improvements are needed. We wish him luck.

Service was good, the staff very pleasant and helpful. The food was great, Ribblehead Bitter was a nice pint. It made a pleasant change to have rock music as the background instead of the usual dross. I enjoyed my visit and will return when next in the area.

Room was fine, good size, clean and comfortable, good location in the centre of town. No evening food but there are other decent eating options. Too hot as inexplicably the heating was on.I was let down by breakfast only being served from 08:30 - too late for me, especially on a work trip. Frustrating given I'd paid for it.

Stayed here twice a month apart. Room was fine but no shampoo or shower gel etc. So a bit odd, and annoying as I was backpacking. Room was very hot but couldn't open windows as on main road and very noisy. Food good value but basic.

Nice Sunday lunch, great service and dog friendly. Good value.

Cereal and cooked breakfast was the only option. Bedroom had a large bed with a double duvet laid sideways across it. ( two single duvets, continental style, would have been more appropriate). Very limited storage in the bedroom for clothes.

Food is very cheap there, but poor quality but you get what you pay for! But the pub it's self seems a nice place for a few beer's

Lovely atmosphere. Happy staff. Lunch on Bank holiday Monday. Comfortable, not too busy. Chicken tikka with rice AND chips. Real ale to wash it down. Recommended. In town for a couple of days so I will be back.

Large, comfortable, clean rooms. Lovely service. Great bike storage, which is important as this is a major point on the Way of the Roses. We loved the breakfast service - great chat. We felt very welcome and would certainly stay again.

The menu I chose had seasonal vegetables as an item, they were missing and on asking why I was told there were no vegetables due to lack of supply, yet still paid the same price. The waitress was surly and failed to inform us of the former, it was the bar person, who told us the reason when clearing the plates from the table. The younger staff need some customer service training, lack of acknowledgment of customers was downright rude to say the least. The only saving grace of my visit was the apology of the bar person for the menu default.

Popped in for food after a day of adventures, very good and prompt service, excellent value for money and the food was great. Will definitely come back again in the future. I'm stuffed
