Had a wonderful time in this fancy, cosy, elegant and stylish restaurant. It was really fascinating to see so many young staff running the place like professionals and being so polite and engaging with customers. You will definitely get the family and friends vibe and feelings when talking to these magnificent people. I will definitely be coming back because of this.

Fabulous! We visited as a family group for the Christmas menu, food quality and service were exceptional. The staff were so friendly and attentive, asked regularly if we needed any more drinks etcWe had a disabled member of our party, staff assisted by moving furniture to make our table more accessible and placed a ramp over the steps at the entrance to assist us. Overall a fantastic dining experienceWheelchair accessibility: Fully disability friendly, disabled toilet, mobile ramp entrance/exit staff very attentive and helpful.

Ah Alexander's, Skipton's dining equivalent to the female sexual experience, in that there is copious build up and no eventual pay off.We arrived, a quartet of starved companions, eager for the sweet sustenance of over-priced hipster dining and a bottle of wine. Alas, we were left waiting to be seated 45 minutes on bar stools that could only be described as precarious whilst a pleasant waitress promised us that our table would be ready in another 5 minutes.Once seated, we managed to fight through our desperate hunger to regard the menu, only to be confronted with logical contradiction that would give pause to Bertrand Russell: the all day menu includes meals only available until 5pm. (In unrelated news, I am currently offering all year cruises, only available July to August). Not once, but twice our order was taken, and yet then, like the sounding of trumpets heralding the fall of or culinary walls of Jericho, the chef told us that the kitchen was closed and they would not be cooking for us.It was 'a miscommunication,' according to the manager, that we were seated, handed menus and had orders taken (twice) when the kitchen was shut for 30 minutes or more. By way of apology, we were offered a bottle of wine on the house to enjoy with our meals. Sadly the napkins were tasteless and the wine glasses undercooked.'Disappointed' springs to mind, as does 'incompetent' and 'ecumenical' (though that last one may be just delirium from hunger). We had booked in for a birthday celebration, with friends from out of town. Needless to say, the entire year has been sullied and the birthday patron intends to spend the next 365 days locked in the basement sobbing and eating nothing but salted olives (which ironically we were hoping to have as a starter). We went to pizza express instead. Would recommend.Dietary restrictions: The waiter thought that celiac was a meal option and spent the best part of a minute searching for it on his iPad, perhaps confusing it with celeriac (which, in fairness, is gluten free). The vegan options were clearly designed to prevent decision fatigue in that there were no options. The mushroom gnocchi was unavailable and the halloumi cous cous salad's vegan option was to not have halloumi (one might think it would be better described as no-halloumi salad).I would love to review the skinny fries from a vegan perspective, but there was a miscommunication, in that when we booked for food, this was misinterpreted as a booking for disappointment.

What can I say, first time I have been here and it will certainly be my last.I attended a pre booked event, every guest had made their order weeks in advance so the kitchen knew exactly what needed to be cooked. It was 25 minutes before we got our first drinks (only one of the three after that I ordered ever showed up) The starter was OK but lacked seasoning and was two hours after we had the table booked for. Another long wait and a very overcooked main turned up, starter plates were not cleared, we had to shove them to one side once we got our mains. I would like to say the desert was better, but none of us sat at the table ever got one. I don't know who was expiditing the orders but I suggest retraining on quality control.I am sorry to say that I have had better food and service at Wetherspoons.

Absolute shambles of a place?, went for a Christmas party there , the service was beyond atrocious. With a pre booked party of 40 , and in a private function room, up stairs , the bar wasn't even open, so all drinks had to be ordered, which either never came at all, or took up to 50 mins, considering it was a free bar all night, and the astronomical prices they charge for drinks, they didn't capitalise on the fact they could of made thousands, but for the shockingly slow waiting staff, the few that were there. The first course took well over an hour to arrive, with some of the bread, with the soup, being frozen!!. The main course took a further a hour, for bland, unseasoned food, which was dry, and almost unpalatable. I complained to a young waiting boy, who turned out to be the restaurant manager, his attitude was unacceptable, and his excuses of people being sick and not turning up, laughable. I couldn't tell you how the sweet course was, because the wait was to long, and people just decided to leave.I all my days eating in restaurant s, I've never encountered , such a shocking experience, it was shambolic to say the least. Horrendously managed by people who should never be in the hospitality trade,I'm appalled at how badly it's run, and organised, considering they new we were coming, and was pre booked. Totally unacceptable ?

The service is slow every time I go here. The coffee is fantastic. In winter, don't sit near the front door as it takes an age to close and the cold air rushes in.

I keep giving this place another chance because it’s in such a lovely setting but leave disappointed every-time. The first time I visited I ordered steak and the kitchen refused to make a sauce to go with it, I gave feedback to management and they agreed that making a sauce shouldn’t have need a problem, we were offered free cocktails on our next visit to compensate but wernt able to redeem them because of Covid. The second time we visited was summer ‘22. I ordered prawns which came covered in eggs and when I say covered, I mean COVERED! I raised this and the waitress was quite rude and told me that it did state in the small print on the menu that they may contain eggs due to it being breeding season. I checked the menu and this wasn’t the case, they simply just hadn’t been washed.Last night we attended the Off Piste experience, this was something we were really looking forward to and had been for a while. The table wasn’t ready when we arrived and we had to wait 15mins at the bar which originally wasn’t a problem. The ‘alpine lodge’ was lovely inside but freezing cold as there was an open doorway. Some items were missing from the set menu and we wernt given any explanation until we asked why we hadn’t been brought certain things. Food was ok but poor value for money, it was supposed to be a 5 course tasting menu… the soup was lovely as was the salmon. Bratwurst were really salty and potato rosti was rock hard and tasteless. The alpine pizza was tiny and had a part of it cut off when it was served (this was supposed to feed 5 people). Cheese fondue was watery and not warm enough and the ‘ mini croque monsieur’ was just toast with a bit of ham and cheese inside. Part way through the fourth course, which had come out at the kitchens pace, we were given a 30min warning that they needed the table back at 19:20 and told we were welcome to take desert home in a box. I explained that we were late to the table as it wasn’t ready, the food had come out slowly through no fault of our own and at £55 per head we most certainly would not be taking desert home in a box!Overall disappointing experience, bill was almost £400 and we all left dissatisfied.

Our worst ever visit. We visited on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We always enjoy Alexander's but something has gone really badly wrong with the service. We had our drinks order taken and then the waitress returned because she'd forgotten our order of 3 drinks (even though she was clutching an iPad she clearly hadnt used). We didn't want ice in the orange juice, it came with ice. I asked for sugar for my coffee (twice) and the coffee was cold by the time it arrived. The full English was good although the lack of attention to detail e.g. no butter for the toast was disappointing. The service was terrible. Not once when we ate did anyone attend to us. We even went to ask for our own bill as nobody brought it over. The attention to detail was nil. The quality service has gone and we won't be paying a premium in the area to return and receive such a poor service. I am sorry to say you have lost 2 customers...for now

I have eaten here on a few occasions with my family but this will be my last. The service is aways amazing as is tye ambience but they have become so over priced that I can't justify spending my money here in the future. This meal, for my birthday, cost £25.00, yes £25.00,for some dried peas and a tiny portion, there was more plate than food. The sauce wasn't included , I asked for that as it was so dry. I can no longer recommend Alexander's.

We had lunch here today, sat outside with our little Schnauzer, the sun shone, the music was perfect and the food delicious! The young staff are very professional and polite, all round super experience.Highly recommend, Alexander’s is exceptional.

I went by this place a number of times when I was in Skipton. It always looked dead. Then I realized from walking around the back that it had a big patio overlooking the canal. So decided to give it a try. I went one time after that, without a reservation, and was told the patio was full. I went another time when it was raining, and got a table inside. I sat at my table for 20+ minutes without anyone coming to even take a drink order. Waiters were taking orders for tables around me. I left. I'm sure it was a fluke, but what am I supposed to think?

This place had been recommended to us by a family member, so since we were in the area we decided to give it a go, and it did not disappoint! We visited on a Friday during lunch time and although we hadn't booked, we were shown to a table promptly by friendly staff. To drink we ordered a flat white which was professionally made with a pattern on top, and a pot of loose leaf tea which was served in pretty crockery. The menu offers a large choice of options from main meals such fish and chips or steak, to lighter options like sandwiches or 'nibbles'. We opted for the Lebanese Flatbread (flat bread with hummous and Tzatziki dips), this was a starter but we ordered it to come with our mains to share. We also ordered the Fishfinger ‘Butty’ Luxe and the BBQ pulled pork bao bun; both of these dishes were accompanied by a pot of coleslaw which was some of the nicest coleslaw I’ve ever had, it was so creamy and tasty. The fish finger butty was described as being fish goujons, but when it arrived it was actually a single large fish. It still tasted amazing so not an issue, but was probably more difficult to eat than a few smaller goujons as described. All of these dishes were extremely tasty and definitely worth the money. We also loved that the restaurant had an open kitchen, meaning you can see the chefs preparing the food. Always a good sign of a hygienic well presented restaurant, as there's nowhere to hide. Overall if you are looking for a very nicely decorated modern restaurant in Skipton that provides great service, and even better food, then this is the place for you. We will definitely return when we are next in Skipton.

Not the first time we've been to alexanders. Food is always amazing. The staff are usually attentive and intuitively know when you are ready for more drinks. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and being able to sit outside on their wonderful terrace of an evening is very comfortable and relaxing. As always on this visit the food and the terrace were very enjoyable. The service on the otherhand was definitely not up to there usual standard. We booked a table and were seated immediately. Then we waited. Usually drink orders are taken almost as soon as you sit down with food orders taken shortly after. On this visit we were waiting nearly 30 min before orders were taken and a further 30 mins before all the food and drinks arrived. Tried to order more drinks as our table was cleared of plates but the server never returned to take our order so we had to grab someone else as they were passing. Waited another 20 min before one of our party went to the bar to find out what was going on. The lady she spoke to was lovely and very apologetic and our drinks arrived not long after but I'm afraid to say that it put a real dampener on the whole evening. Really disappointing experience overall

Oh dear, this used to be such a lovely place. We've been before for breakfast, dinner and just drinks and always found the service, food and drinks amazing. This visit was very different and we left very disappointed ? Politely greeted and food and drink order taken swiftly. Starters arrived promptly as did first round of drinks although only one glass for water even though we asked for two. Margarita really good and I really enjoyed my starter but my husbands was just OK and lacking seasoning. We had roast beef lunch as our main and although it all looked really good, it was all lukewarm and again the chef needed to season the food! I asked for a gimlet as the mains were delivered and the waitress wasn't sure if if could be made but said she would find out. She never came back and we never saw her again. We finished our food and sat waiting quite a while, eventually I called over another waiter who cleared our plates. I asked about our waitress and explained about the gimlet, he told us she'd finished her shift and gone home! Obviously no one allocated to look after us. He went and asked about my gimlet and I did receive it and throughly enjoyed it too. At no point did anyone check with us how the food was, if we needed anything else, no one offered desserts, coffee or more drinks. We got a waiters attention again and asked for the bill. When we got home, I received an email inviting us to leave a trip advisor review if good or to email them if any problems. I emailed them but approximately 10 days later, I'm yet to receive the courtesy of a reply. Perhaps this is just indicative of our whole experience this time. Alexanders on this occasion certainly did not live up to its' price point on either service or food quality.

Lovely spot for people watching at the front, and stunning private balcony at the back. No smoking allowed on the terrace. Beautiful clean bathrooms and lovely decor throughout. The staff is delightful, knowledgable and literally everyone is very attractive. Especially the hosts and bar manager. ? They serve fantastic drinks. Didn’t eat here as I didn’t see any vegan options.
