We visited the Dog and Gun whilst having a family weekend in Osmotherley. The pub is warm and welcoming . The Sunday lunch was exceptional , our group chose various meals and every one of them was very good. One of our party is dairy intolerant which sometimes really limits a Sunday lunch but she was very well catered for and they even made her a Yorkshire pudding. All the staff were really friendly and helpful . The dog and gun is definitely one to visit and I really hope we get to go back.

Fantastic Sunday lunch with family. Great selection of meats and the portion sizes are very good. Would recommend to all.

Went here for a birthday meal. The atmosphere was lovely - friendly and busy but not too noisy. Our dog was made to feel properly welcome and it was a relaxing atmosphere for him too. The food was great - really good quality pub food. Beer choice was good and tasty. Staff were very attentive but didn't hassle us. Would definitely return....

I recently took my niece and great nephew for Sunday lunch. Food was superb, the beer was excellent and the staff are first class. This place never ever disappoints, I couldn’t recommend highly enough.

I had the vegan Sunday lunch which was incredible and it even had a vegan Yorkshire pudding (which is pretty unheard of!!). We also ordered the beef Sunday lunch which I’m told was also amazing and one of the best Sunday lunches ever. The service was amazing from start to finish, they managed to squeeze us in when I left it last minute to go! Really lovely experience and we will definitely be back!

We visited as a family visiting the area (group of 13+1 wheelchair). The blonde lady (I didn’t get her name) was amazing and to our every need. Being a big group we always feel nervous but we could not have felt more at home: the Sunday lunch was incredible and we love the fact we had to pre-order as it made for an efficient visit. Highly recommend, it even had a great outdoors area we could have a pre-meal drink in. Highly recommend

Lucy the chef at the Dog and Gun did an amazing job of a roast for 30 people last weekend for a special occasion. They served all the various meat and veggie options at the same time and all were piping hot and delicious. A roast dinner full plate with roast, mash, Yorkshire puddings, red cabbage, carrot, courgette, tender stem broccoli and cauliflower cheese. Yorkshire puddings and stuffing with the relevant sauces and gravy, just perfectly presented and executed. Brilliantly organised Sam and perfectly executed!

We visited Thirsk for a few days and decided to try burger night with my husband and 2 dogs. The staff and the other customers were extremely welcoming! Everyone came over to say hello to our doggos and even brought treats. One of our dogs (Cooper) can be a bit of a handful so we find it hard to find places that are ‘Cooper friendly’ but the staff were so warming and came straight over to give him a big fuss! We ordered our burgers on an efficient card and ticked all the ingredients we wanted. They arrived and they really were next level! My husband said it was the best burger he’s ever had. We really loved our night and will be returning for burger night when we visit Thirsk again next year.

Smart, clean well run dog freindly pub using local ingredients producing great food. Close to A19 . Sunday Lunches are amazing (slow cooked meat for tenderness and flavour) . Build you own burgers are better than Michelin *, Abbey Inn. All dogs are welcomed. Booking essential to ensure the kitchen is not overloaded.

This was a 5* pub with a 5* meal. However, one thing really got me when we received the bill...The pub is a nice local, pleasant inside and the beer (northern and using a sparkler) was great - copper dragon brewery. We ordered Sunday roasts and the food was excellent - see photos.Service was on point and drinks orders taken quickly followed by food orders, which is as you'd want it to be.Unfortunately, the whole meal had a shine taken from it as I saw that the 4 pints and 2 halves we ordered were billed at £4 a pint and £2.15 a half...I may be over the top with this reaction, but charging more for 2 halves than a pint is criminal and that mentality - for 30p - is not how I want to remember this pub, but it is.A shame as this should have been a clean 5* visit.Kid-friendliness: Kids seemed welcome.Parking: The road outside is free if not a little precarious to park on.Dietary restrictions: The waitress asked if we had any allergies, this was very good and would be comforting for anyone with allergies.

Super friendly and great menu, we loved the 'build your own burger'. Staff were really accommodating to us and our two dogs! Would definitely recommend!
