“We were staying in Lythe for a long weekend and went to The Stiddy for Sunday lunch - 4 adults with 2 dogs, one of which is a giant breed. The reception and service we received was absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble even for the dogs, the food was excellent, I would give them 5++ rating anytime.Lovely people.”

“Excellent warm and friendly reception as always at (imho) one of the best, unspoilt, hostelries in the country. Beckwatter and Beckhole butty hit the spot as ever. I do agree with an earlier review that the gents toilets could do with a refurb, but totally disagree with another bunch of whinging reviewers complaining about not being able to consume their own food and drink - for goodness sake it goes without saying - if you go to a pub you are expected to buy their food and drink. If you don't want to do this - go and have a picnic elsewhere!”

“We have been staying in Ruswarp for years and it wasn’t the same when the pub was closed but what a wonderful experience the new (1 year) owners have made. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and this led to a great interaction between staff and customers alike. The atmosphere was great and we ended visiting every day of our visit. Our 3 labs were made very welcome and we can’t wait to visit again in December. If you like a relaxed friendly environment with pleasant conversation and good beer this is the place for you ?”

“Popped in for an early lunch before walking to Whitby. Only one table full when we arrived but it filled up fast. We had a lovely burger and fish finger sandwich. The staff were friendly and efficient, everything was clean and tidy. Reasonably priced for the prime location.”

“One of the best outside locations in Whitby to have a drink. The beer garden overlooks the harbour/marina, and it's a great sunny spot. Beer ok, wine not so great. A bit more of a pub for locals than tourists I think.”
