The Fishermans Wife, Khyber Pass Whitby We’ve just eaten at the takeaway hut of The Fishermans Wife , Whitby, gutted, ? very disappointed, tasteless chips ( suspect frozen? ) and thin over cooked cod ?? feel totally ripped off; kicking myself, last time we ate here in January 2022, the food was fantastic, this was complete opposite, won’t be returning.

I have always loved Gravely’s/Fisherman’s Wife but today was a total disappointment the fish fillet was so small and thin and had obviously been cut in half it was so skinny it was like eating a piece of batter! Will not go again such a shame and so much competition total waste of money at £10.99!

We booked a table online, promptly dealt with by the lovely staff. Sat with a sea view. Very attentive and friendly. We had starters and fish and chips for main. Also a kids meal. The mussels were the best I've ever tasted and my father in law said his seafood platter was amazing. Fish was the best I have had in a long time. Would highly recommend. We had a fabulous time. Thanks!

We really enjoyed our lunch here during the school holidays. Whitby was heaving this day and finding somewhere to eat wasn't easy. but we kept walking and found this place right at the end of Pier Road, just up the Khyber Pass :-) So glad we pushed on, The food and service were great and they were very accommodating. As I was in Whitby It had to be fish and I had a large and lovely piece of Haddock. Great views if you can get a window seat too.

Came here for a late birthday meal for my partner in November 2023. We had a table overlooking the sea with amazing views. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was very good. I had the medium haddock and chips and my partner had a lobster with crevettes. We had starters too but probably didn't need them as the portions were generous. Overall, it was a lovely treat and would definitely return.

We visited on cold wet Saturday evening in November. The restaurant was warm, welcoming with a lovely atmosphere, full of people clearly enjoying an evening meal. Starters of moules mariner and bouillabaisse were excellent. Large servings, hot and well presented. The main courses of halibut and fish pie were delicious, faultless and excellent value for money. The fish pie was one of the best l have ever had. The staff were pleasant, attentive and frequently checked all was well. After reading some of the reviews it was with some trepidation that we booked this restaurant but following a glowing review from a friend , I am so very glad we did. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and nothing like some of the previous comments. We will certainly be back very soon.

Beautiful location. Welcoming staff - lovely clean restaurant. Haddock was beautifully cooked the chips were tasty - very enjoyable. We found the price to be on par with other restaurants. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and the view was a bonus. Would recommend.

You can't come to Whitby and not have a slap up fish and chip supper can you! Granted it's not as cheap as it once was, and sitting in as opposed to take away adds further to the price. I must say this was excellent though, only a few other people inside so there was only a minimal wait for the food and drinks. Service was friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. Meal was excellent, but then if it wasn't I don't think any restaurant doing fish and chips is Whitby would survive ?Top end of price, but I would say worth it as the food was pretty much perfect.
