Definitely our worst eating experience in York yet. The staff hardly looked at us when speaking to us, the portions were tiny for the price and very bland. When I asked for my leftovers as takeaway, they definitely didn't put all the contents of my plate in the box. Very disappointing!

This was my second visit to the Bengal Brasserie, my first time was a couple of years ago while I was visiting from my home in The Netherlands.My first experience was amazing, the food was delicious and the service was great. Everyone was welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Naturally my friends and I wanted to go again for another meal, again my experience was the same. It is one of the best restaurants I have been to for Indian food. Thank you and I will definitely see you again ??

Avoid!!! Went for a birthday celebration but the food was poor at best. A dry and chewy biryani, and a couple of kormas drastically watered down - naan tasted like it had come straight from Tesco…had to walk 5 minutes to find a cashpoint as incredibly it was cash-only night ?. Didn’t really appreciate the 2 euro coins they’d hidden in my change (yeah, should have checked but you don’t do you???)Thankfully there’s so much choice in the city so won’t make the mistake of coming to this shack again.Dire

Food was amazing, and the service was equally so. House service was great.I had a chicken tikka madras with red rice, fries, garlic naan. Everything tasted fantastic. The chicken was soft, and plentiful. I was a nightmare customer, and ended up knocking my drink off the table (I know) and the staff were very nice about it.If you’re looking for Indian food in York, then you cant go wrong here. Might want to call first as the restaurant is relatively modest in size, which I prefer, but York can get pretty busy. I got lucky.

Didn't have a booking but still made space for us. The meal was absolutely lovely! Only found this place via Google Maps. My wife had the healthy Chicken curry off the menu and I highly recommend this whether your looking for a healthy option or not. When we come back to York, we will definitely visit again.

Place was full, starters were nice,my curry was really bland, it had no flavour at all. I think I chose a wrong dish. Nan was soft. But I got a shock when the bill came! Almost £140 for 3 of us! Staff could be a bit more

Hubby and I just visited York for the weekend. We fancied a curry so browsed Google reviews for ideas. Bengal Brasserie was up there with good reviews and it didn't disappoint. Make sure you book a table as they turned at least 20 away in the hour or so we were there! Do you ever go out for dinner and think "tonight I'm going to try something different" and then go for the usual? Well, I was really brave and went for it, sabzi sizzler, and it was delicious! All 4 waiters served us at some point, Saf, Saj, Jay, Ekon all working great as a team and made our evening most enjoyable. What a lovely place! Next time we're in York (or Leeds as we were told they have one there too!) we will be back!
