Cafes in Kettering

“Heard of this restaurant when an acquaintance posted some photos on Facebook one lunchtime. Wife and I decided to head over to Kettering to see for ourselves. It took some time to find it as it is tucked away, off Sheep St but when we went in, the welcome made the 20 mile trip was clearly well worth it. It's like stepping back in time with the place being almost a museum to the WW2 era. Look at the photos to get a feel for the place. Food was excellent with my wife having a ham baguette and myself settling for the chicken panini. Both appeared pretty quickly, were well presented with salad etc. Staff chatty and really made the visit feel as if we were old friends. This is one of these places that you just have to visit. An expert worth repeating.”

“I will confess that I have been recommending the Cafe Oak to locals and clients in the hundreds over the years as well as it being a place we always take all of our own house guests to enjoy. I have never heard anything but praise and enjoyment from all, and as I take my recommendations quite seriously, I always ask. Several of our family and friends are serious foodies and we can definitely recommend the daily board items as they are often the real delights. The cafe is a regular drop in for community organisations and get togethers for locals, whether it is in the spacious interior, or in the garden by the ancient thatch. Legend has it that Charles Dickens dined at the original Royal Oak pub, and I think he would still take the time to stop by the present incarnation. I personally feel blessed that we have such a lovely spot so close to home, managed by such welcoming people.”

“This is a great stop off, just off the A14 with lovely views over open countryside to enjoy whilst eating. Breakfast is really good, reasonably priced and staff are friendly. We always stop here enroute to Suffolk. Only downside is coffee isn't the best, but maybe that is just our personal preference.”

Nothing was too much trouble all the food came out exactly on time and it was all amazing. The service, considering the place was heaving was excellent. “Had an hour to kill before a meeting and stumbled across this place on the drive into Kettering. It’s cash only, unusual these days but if it works for them. I’m just glad I had some cash. It’s clearly a popular place with the locals. The staff were friendly, service was good and the Full English Breakfast was a good size, freshly cooked and really hot. Well worth £8 (includes Tea and Toast).”

“I am new to burton Latimer and I have used this cafe before and the service has always been grate all round. 2 days ago I went in and made an order and toke my little girl to school and totally forgot to get my order and went on my way to work. I went back 3 days later to get another order and told them not to worry because was my mess up but they absolutely made my day because they refused for me to pay again even though was my mess up . So thankyou guys! Best cafe in burton. Lovely staff, grate food snd reasonable prices. Will be using more. Lovely people and nice to see we have these people in our town. Thankyou once again.”

“The breakfast Is very good size and value for money and they have a good coffee!Puds tho not for me apple pie was still frozen and custard has no sugar so very horrible powder taste - pud was only let down!”
