Wasn’t the most welcoming entrance.Luckily the lady who served the food was really pleasant. She makes the pub.Lots on the menu to choose from, which is good value. We won’t be returning back here though. The moody bar lady told us to not allow buddy and toffee to sit in the alcove. She rather have them on the floor, in the gangway where people were walking up and down. So it wasn’t very relaxing having to keep moving our dogs out of the way.

Lunchtime out after a visit to Whilton Marina. Last here three years ago and always said that we'd be back. For a lunchtime the pub was packed, but a couple of tables available. Timothy Taylor on handpump was excellent, as was the food. Served quickly, was piping hot and plentiful and excellent vfm. Lovely village pub, nice welcome and we will be back!

Peaceful and characterful village pub, with a fire in the grate. Excellent beer - Timothy Taylor's 'boltmaker'.We didn't have a meal this time, but the menu had many interesting dishes. We'll definitely visit again.

Pie Night Have been to this pub many times have lived in village for 35 years the pies on offer are very good and good value for money the staff are very friendly and helpful the only reason i have given 3 stars is the landlord,s attitude towards some customers. He was bringing around menu,s to the table and said to us i suppose you want one of these he never speaks to you or acknowledges you . Good evening or Goodnight or what would you like would be sufficent think some training in customer relations is required. There other establishements in the village that are civil to all there customers and not a chosen few

Out of the blue we wanted to eat out but somewhere different. We pulled up in the carpark to find an old world building. We didn't book but a a table was cleared for up in the old inglenook. We had some lovely waitresses and bar maids who made us feel welcome. The food choice was large and vegetarian option was really good for my partner. The food was really nice and hot when it got to the table. The bill was presented and I was expecting it to be a lot more. Definitely a place to go again.Vegetarian options: Great choice, afterwards there was a classic carshow which was well worth staying an extra 2 hours for.

A real community pub close to the M1 so a useful stopover for good food and drinks, quickly served. Always a wide menu of home cooked food at reasonable prices. The Red Lion never disappoints.

We were a large family group on holiday on a narrowboat and celebrated a 21st birthday at the pub. Asked in advance, Paul willingly arranged balloons and a gorgeous freshly made personalised cake. We had a great evening with good pub grub, served efficiently and with a smile. Thankyou!
