Lovely restaurant with a roaring fire. The food was amazing and the portions bigger then expected, at great prices. Will definitely come back again!

Just been out for a family birthday celebration. Last minute thing as usual in our house. Hard to find a decent restaurant open early in the week anymore round here. Sue and I are always drawn towards fresh fish on a menu. Without going into each dish in detail, suffice to say, both the Salmon and Cod were a delight. I had the Cod which was cooked to perfection, not something that often happens for me. We had great banter with our host towards the end of our meal. He was pleasant and friendly and challenged us as to where he originated from( that’s a story for another day). It came about from someone leaving a negative review but left nothing on her plate, I even know her name! This is most definitely a positive review, we will be back. Loved the varied choice of menu. Everything was excellent. A pleasant experience all round. Thank you.

Went there for a Christmas lunch with business colleagues. This is a lovely pub and restaurant located in the middle of beautiful Hillsborough. The menu offered a great selection for everyone and service was very helpful and pleasant.Food was very good considering it was a very busy time on Christmas week, so that was excellent, and everyone was well pleased with the lunch.

Our airbnb host recommended this restaurant - it was a lovely way to end our trip! The pizza and wings were amazing.

Went for dinner tonight with my husband and daughter. The ambiance is amazing and it is a very cosy place. The food was amazing- I have never tasted better wheaten bread- the chicken wings were perfect, meaty and the perfect balance of sweet and hot. The pork belly was excellent. Portion sizes are generous and my daughter’s cocktail was perfect. This place is well worth a visit. We will be back again.

Decided to go here on New Year's Eve for a special dinner with my wife. Starters were nice but service very poor. Our waiter had to asked for the wine menu and we requested water for the table. He brought the wine menu but forgot the water. We waited for a while and asked again. It was promptly brought. After starters, mains arrived. I ordered roast beef and my wife ordered salmon. The salmon was nice but I was presented with 2 big slabs of very tough beef. It tough work cutting and eating the beef. I gave up after eating half. The same waiter came to remove our plates and asked did we enjoy our meal. I said no the beef was too tough. He ignored the comment and left. He returned with dessert menu and said nothing. We decided not to take dessert and asked for the bill. He returned with the bill soon after. I went to the till to pay and was met by the same waiter. He didn't seem to be concerned about my comment about the food quality and swiped my card. Then we left. For a restaurant with a high profile I would have expected some acknowledgement of my complaint. I will not be returning to this establishment as there are other places to eat. To assist identification of our waiter, he spoke with a French accent. He should learn some Customer Service skills. It's rare I complain but I couldn't let this go. I will be telling anyone who asks about my trip to Hillsborough to avoid this place. ???

We are regulars here every time we go staff are attentive, friendly. Food is 10/10 every time and atmosphere is fantastic. The classic menu doesn’t change but they add some fantastic specials.

Had turkey dinner yesterday. Very poor. The roast potatoes were really hard on the outside as if they had been under a heater too long, they were inedible! The Turkey roulade was dry & there was no gravy on the side. The sprouts were over cooked. I will not be returning. PS The young fair haired waiter was very pleasant & welcoming.

This is a bit more than a gastroput to be fair.....I've eaten here a few times and the lunch we had yesterday was a culinary feast! Pizza is always above par, the venison burger was amazing even the 'chips' were really done a dis-service by calling them chipsl! Desert of dark chocolate with peanut and Morello cherries was really sublime... well worth the drive out of our way just to eat here!! Thank you!

Went tonight for a meal, I thought menu was a small bit limited but order chicken wings and a prawn pizza. Chicken wings are amazing and nicest I ever had. Pizza was good too!! Wings are a must !

We had soft drink and I thought they was expensive for the small 200ml Coke and Fanta £3 odd. Also roast dinner came with one sprig of broccoli and one sprig of cauliflower like rations. One roast potato I was quite sad about for the price too.So unfortunately I don’t think it’s great value for the money.

Had the roast beef which was very good but the baked cheesecake was absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly & the interiors are uniquely old fashioned in a peasant way. Will be back again.
