Starter size portion, with far more cream than you would expect, chips were served in a small mug (about 10 chips). Bread was dry, even after replacement. It's okay, but not worth the money, and quality is inconsistent.

Went for Mother’s Day after just having a look on Google maps for some options in Alnwick.Really impressed overall with a couple of standout features:2 vegetarians in our group of 4; the veggie Sunday roast was one of the best we’ve had, the wellington amazing - nice work to the kitchen team.Also a note: first place I’ve seen lucky saint on tap, definitely a huge positive considering the usual poor low alcohol offerings in bars, it’s appreciated especially as a lot of people are just visiting Alnwick and driving back to wherever.Wait staff attentive and friendly, decor and ambience pretty cool also. Would recommend

Took my partner here for her birthday and thankfully was not disappointed. The young girl serving was very good, pleasant and efficient considering how busy she was. My beetroot starter was lovely, visually very appealing. My partner had croquettes and although tasty she thought the sauce inside was a bit too thick. For mains I had the butternut squash and mushroom Wellington with Truffle mash and kale, my partner had the braised beef shin with charred onions, potato gratin and and burnt bone marrow crumb. The Truffle mash was absolutely gorgeous, loads of Truffle running through, the pastry on the Wellington was fab and the filling was tasty. The kale was a nice accompaniment. The beef shin just fell apart it was so tender and tasty, the gratin was lovely and the crumb gave it a nice texture. We also had a side of heritage carrots which were very tasty. There was a nice atmosphere and the surroundings are modern and relaxed. All in all we both had a great meal and my partner enjoyed her birthday.

Stopped in for a couple of cocktails, really nice. However, on a trip to the loo I was surprised not to encounter some penguins, such was the heat differential, all was not lost as I had a toffee hammer in my pocket to break the ice off.

It’s such a treat to finally have somewhere in Alnwick that feels a bit more like an upmarket and classy bistro.From the beautifully tasteful decor that creates an elegant ambience, attentive and knowledgeable staff and cosy atmosphere it really felt like a special place from start to finish. The perfect birthday meal out.The food was cooked and presented beautifully and my “Harmony Zero” mocktail was utter heaven in a glass! The best cocktail I’ve had tbh and it didn’t even need the alcohol.I’ll definitely be visiting here again. Alnwick’s has needed this for a very long time and I’m just sorry I’ve not visited sooner!

The food was good, especially the leek and mushroom wellington, although the smoked beetroot starter wasn't very smoky, it was paired nicely with the chicory. The sticky toffee pudding was very tasty.The service was the only slight disappointment and could be improved as we had to work quite hard to get the servers attention but the server was very polite and in general the place was very agreeable. 4.5 rating I think is fair.Vegetarian options: The wellington was fantasti
