This was an outstanding place to stay. Warm welcome and thorough orientation to the accommodation and local area. Beautiful decor (full of charm and character) and location (right by the River Tweed with lovely views across the old bridge to Berwick). Completely chemical-free so a real refuge for those with chemical sensitivities. Short and easy walk from the train station and into Berwick itself, with a great little wholefoods store and vegan-friendly cafes close by. Which brings me to the breakfasts. Oh my goodness. What to say? Clearly lovingly prepared. Fresh. Seasonal. Organic. Delicious. Nutritious. Lots of choice. And Karen was so flexible with my food sensitivities - making special dishes for me each day and always checking in with me to make sure I would be okay with what she was preparing. She even went the extra mile and prepared me a sumptuous lunch so I could eat on the train on my way home as I struggle to find workable options when I'm on the move. And although I struggle to be vegan in my day-to-day life because of the allergies and intolerances I currently have to numerous plant-based foods, staying at Loaf has added extra inspiration for me to be as plant-based as possible, and to hopefully be able to move towards a completely plant-based diet in time. Absolutely stunning b&b and suuuper delicious breakfast (basically everything - but do try the savoury crumpets!) :)! Can't recommend enough.This place would also be perfect for families with children.And Karen is the most kind and gifted host you can immagine.Don't hesitate and book now as there are still dates available!

Cakes on arrival... walks by the river... super comfy apartment to ourselves with a great bed and perfect bath facilities... the most incredible breakfasts made with garden-grown produce (zero air miles)... Imagine the most amazing, chilled out, relaxed break to detox from the busy world - this is it! Highly recommended.

Lovely location in perfect central Berwick-upon-Tweed, with beautiful views from the garden. We were within easy walking distance of the town and close to shops and supermarkets etc. The views were gorgeous. Breakfasts were lovely too. Highly recommend.
We finally stayed at The Loaf in May 2021 after COVID delayed our 2020 visit. It's a lovely place in a great location - close to town but very peaceful with great views from the garden. There's loads of space inside and everything was really comfortable. Karen was very welcoming with lots of hints and tips for the local area. The breakfasts were great and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried. It felt good to be somewhere that's 100% vegan and we would definitely recommend a visit.

Spent that last weekend of October at Loaf (last weekend before lockdown #2). Karen took very good care of us and provided us with some sensational breakfasts and evening puddings! She was fab even before we got there, helping us plan what to do and where to eat. The b&b is very spacious and my 16 month daughter had plenty of space to run about safely both inside and in the garden. Travelling with a toddler can be difficult but Karen provides everything from cot to toys so you really can travel light if you need to. The location is perfect, just across the bridge with amazing views of the River, bridges and Berwick Town. Its also just a short drive to other amazing locations such as Alnwick castle and gardens.

Fantastic location just under the main road bridge onto Berwick, beautiful views/scenery, 10mins walk from Berwick high street, very comfortable, gorgeous (and varied/flexible) plant based breakfast and hosts are so accommodating and friendly; we sat and chatted for ours!! Oh, and free parking. We love it and will definitely be going back.

Have just returned from a wonderful weekend staying at Loaf- we had the most relaxing time in a cosy spotlessly clean cottage-style apartment. The breakfasts each day were incredible and we were made to feel so welcome during our stay. Berwick is a beautiful place to explore and the cafe/restaurant recommendations we were given were perfect. We will definitely be back- in fact I almost didn’t want to write this review because I don’t want to find its fully booked the next time I try and go!! ?
