The Cross Inn Pub & Eating House

The food was spectacular as well as the service and atmosphere. This quaint little country pub is well worth a visit and has become one of our favourite places to eat. It’s a little hidden gem.

MAVI Turkish Restaurant

Visited here mid Feb. We managed to get a table without booking, but I suspect we were lucky. Service was warm and welcoming. Food was fantastic. Large and tasty portions. Perhaps a little on the expensive side, but well worth it.

Had the haggis, pork and mushroom quiche!! Absolutely A1? I enjoyed every mouthful, rich, distinctive but yummy. Lovely coffee, got my kirsch cherry tartlet for cup o'tea later that I got for my cakeaway. Wish you had a café in Yorkshire too?! ? Thankyou.... The Magna Tandoori

I use this restaurant regularly, mostly for take outs. Always good service from staff and the owner. The food is always delicious. I have food intolerances and the staff go out if their way to make sure that I am catered forDietary restrictions: There are quite a few dairy free options to choose from. The staff are really good at helping you make the right choices and making the meals to suit your requirements.

Can we all take a moment or a life time too appreciate this creative and loving service giving from the staff at wingbox. Sometimes you have to take the little things in life and make them what you can. I asked for a chicken to be drawn on my delivery and well….see attached photo for what I was gifted with. Nothing but love, respect and appreciation to the artists ❤️P.S one of you played Kirby for sure ?

Absolutely brilliant takeaway, food and service. Been buying from here for many years, food is always spot on. Best Chinese in the area. Bloke called Tiger working here is a credit to your organisation. Whatever you are paying him, it’s not enough. I’ve never seen someone as friendly and patient dealing with large queues as this fella. Top stuff.

Ozkan's Grill

Went to Ozkan's last night for the first time. Food was exquisite. I ordered a large shish kebab, which came wirh a portion of salad and I also ordered chips. Food took a while to come, there were lots of phone orders and delivery guys to compete with.Looking forward to going back here.

The Berwick Shellfish Co.

First time I've ordered from this place. Ordered a giant dress lobster and snow crab. Was delivered on time and in good condition. The dressed lobster was amazing. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Royal Garden

From start to finish the restaurant was fantastic! Very welcoming the second we walked in. The starters were to die for, the meat on the ribs just fell off and the prawns were cooked to perfection. The mains were absolutely mouth watering! Any time my glass was empty they asked if I would like a refill. All I can say is I will be 100% back.

Food: 8/10Price: 9/10Staff: 10/10Delivery: 9/10They have a wide variety of options on the menu, including things that are unavailable elsewhere, such as the option of sausage/hotdog in a bun, chicken parma, assorted boxes of food (ie. the fish box is a good example).The food is generally delicious but there have been some times where food has been overdone. This isn’t to say the place is bad, the food is lovely!I especially enjoy the salad pots that come with your meal as they’re not like the generic bags of soggy salad. They’re a crisp, fresh, seasoned and tasty salad that comes in a proper tub!My favourite thing from the menu is the chicken Parma. Definitely one to try!The fish box and also the meat box is really great as well for their price. You get absolutely LOADS inside. Definitely somewhere to try!

Used for second time . Not in area often. Had haggis and chips... Wasn't the best haggis but was nice enough for me to have again. So I will use again in future.

Leaping Salmon

Chicken tikka masala for £9.49 - very watery sauce. I didn't get mango chutney even though it's on the menu. Loaded sundae £3.99 - served in a plastic cup (used many times - how is it steamed?). One scoop of ice cream (there are 3 on the menu). The TV plays loudly - beyond your ears. 10oz rump steak £14.99 - everything perfect, looks appetizing. One gentleman serves it quite efficiently. Nice, without unnecessary hassle like: is there anything else? Photo of the cup, scraped below.

China House Chinese Takeaway

First chinese I've had in Berwick area, and thought I was ordering from a different one until I punched in the postcode! So I didn't know it was there, tucked into a housing estate in Tweedmouth, sort of behind the Tweedmouth Retail park. Enough of the geography, onto the food! I ordered Sweet & Sour Pork with Fried Rice, and portion of Salt + Pepper Chips. Food ready exactly when advised on the app. Cash only, so luckily I was near a cashpoint when I realised that. Food was excellent. Massive portion (8 huge pork balls), piping hot, freshly made. Chips were perfect. I'd definitely recommend this if you are in the area, and after a Chinese takeaway night in.

Castlegate Fish & Chip Restaurant

Usually the food is good but this time Sunday 3rd March 2024) the haggis was very stodgy and the batter was tough. Also not near enough chips as I've usually had.Maybe a one off but annoying after doing the 9 mile trip home only to find this. ☹️May try elsewhere in the future.

McDonald's

Our regular stop between Newcastle and Edinburgh as it's just off the A1 and roughly halfway. It's a standard McDonald's, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. There's a drive through and parking available. Always seems fairly busy, but I've never had too long to wait.

Amran's Indian Kitchen & Grill

A good standard for a restaurant, loved the Bollywood movie that was on whilst we chose from the menu, the menu was large but not too large that it fried your brain. Good house specialities and friendly

A Corvi Fish Restaurant

Everything cooked to order so there is a wait, but the results are well worth the few minutes spent in this quirky shop. Really good haddock and well browned chips - not at all greasy.

Marshalls Cafe

Called in again as we were on holiday again at Hagerson Castle. Had a breakfast each and took our dog with us as it's a dog friendly cafe. Food and service was excellent as usual ? it's one of our regular call in places for food.

Caffè Nero

Super friendly place for a hot drink and delicious snack.The cafe we visited in Berwick-upon-Tweed allowed dogs so was packed very relaxing and cosy on a freezing day.

The Townhouse Café

Lovely dog friendly cafe. We had a panini, salad & chips, lattes & chocolate milkshake - all of which were delicious. The cafe is very roomy (unlike the overcrowded high st ones) & the staff were very friendly & polite. There is also an ice-cream parlour. It’s situated in the old (?town) hall.

The Corner House

Superb coffee shop! We went with our super friendly pup Angus and had excellent tea and cake. They had a wonderful vegan option for my Sister. Staff were so welcoming and service marvelous. Highly recommended ?Dietary restrictions: Great vegan options

If you like real ale or craft ales then this is the place to be! They offer a changing array of the BEST ales around. (Just nibbles to eat but, HEY, you're here for the beer!)

Thistle Do Nicely

Very welcoming cafe on Walkergate. Handy for visitors to the archives or library a few doors away. I found all Berwickian's very friendly, welcoming and ready to help.

The White Swan Inn

Booked a meal. All set for us when we arrived despite being very busy. Minimalist dining area which made it feel a little canteen- like but great vibe!Food was well cooked and tasty. I had the curry which was tasty without blowing my head off and my friend had fish and chips. We followed it with eklefekken tart and custard.....absolutely gorgeous. Staff were extremely busy but forgpt nothing and were wonderful. Off the beaten track but worth the hunt to Lowick.

The Red Lion

Great set of people at the karaoke on Sunday night, although it wasn't very busy. Never had anything to eat, so I can't comment. Robert was a good karaoke dj.

The Coffee Stop

As soon as we walked in they were extremely friendly and helpful. We found a seat and the menu had something for everyone. The drinks and food arrived quick. It was great food I had a ham sandwich and a tea which both were superb. I would highly recommend this if anyone is in the vicinity. Friendly staff and wonderful food and drinks.

Huge bacon bap! Just stopped for a coffee and thought, hey why not, and a bacon bap the side of my FACE came out. Proper bread, and proper thick bacon too! Great place to stop on the way up to Edinburgh this Christmas.Food & drinks: Amazing food, huge bacon bap, served all day!

Loaf vegan b&b.

This was an outstanding place to stay. Warm welcome and thorough orientation to the accommodation and local area. Beautiful decor (full of charm and character) and location (right by the River Tweed with lovely views across the old bridge to Berwick). Completely chemical-free so a real refuge for those with chemical sensitivities. Short and easy walk from the train station and into Berwick itself, with a great little wholefoods store and vegan-friendly cafes close by. Which brings me to the breakfasts. Oh my goodness. What to say? Clearly lovingly prepared. Fresh. Seasonal. Organic. Delicious. Nutritious. Lots of choice. And Karen was so flexible with my food sensitivities - making special dishes for me each day and always checking in with me to make sure I would be okay with what she was preparing. She even went the extra mile and prepared me a sumptuous lunch so I could eat on the train on my way home as I struggle to find workable options when I'm on the move. And although I struggle to be vegan in my day-to-day life because of the allergies and intolerances I currently have to numerous plant-based foods, staying at Loaf has added extra inspiration for me to be as plant-based as possible, and to hopefully be able to move towards a completely plant-based diet in time. Heartfelt thanks to Karen and big thumbs up for Loaf!

The Angel Inn

Great bar staff and the locals are so welcoming & friendly!! They have Sky/BT sports and show all live matches. Karaoke ? on a Saturday night really is something else. This pub really is well worth a visit!!

Ford Village Shop & Post Office

Ford is such a wonderful village that we make sure we revisit every time we are in Northumberland. This time we had time for a drink and were highly delighted with the quality of product at The Village Shop. Will certainly return again

Brewers Arms

We visited on 2nd Jan in the afternoon whilst visiting the area. 3 adults & 2 teens. Lovely friendly lady behind the bar when we arrived, talked to us about menu options. Ordered food and drinks - good value - 5 adult meals plus drinks was around £65. The food was fabulous. The steak pie portion was huge & the meat delicious! The teens had the smash burgers & said they were excellent. There’s a pool table (£1 for 2 games which is really well priced) which kept the teens happy whilst we chatted. Excellent find - would very happily eat there again if we visit in the future.

Island Oasis Coffee Shop

It was very busy when we came but the staff were quick, professional and friendly, we came for lunch whilst visiting Holy Island for the day. Food was really good, good portion and nice side salad. Well priced. Wasn't waiting long for our food to be ready. The place is really clean and well kept. Have an amazing display of cakes and desserts. Lovely little cafe.

Oxford Farm Shop

Nice homemade soup and other items very very reasonable place a plate of lentil soup and hot crusty roll fruit scone a slice of lemon drizzle cake a cream meringue topped with a cup of coffee all for £8.25 you can't bet that any where

Morrisons Cafe

Nice pit stop on route to head north of the border. Have a nice light breakfast which was tasty and came out promptly. Pity they can't keep count and shorted on the toast but we enjoyed our meal so didn't bother the staff when we noticed. Likely stop again on the way back home!
