We chose to eat here after searching for a convenient location for 3 couples from 3 different towns to meet easily. However, after eating here, I would now reccomend it as a destination restaurant. Our meal was served in the more modern and spacious extension. The food options were traditional but with slight tweaks. All diners were very happy with their food.Following dinner, we were then returned to the older and more cosy bar area where we enjoyed the rest of the evening.Service was friendly and attentive throughout. However, I am caeliac and while there were gluten free options for the main courses, the starter options were very limited and there was no option (other than ice cream) for dessert. They also did not stock a GF bottled beer. This is the only reason I have given 4/5 for food otherwise it would also be 5.

But of a hard one to write, but the only way to see improvement is with constructive criticism. We went for the Friday curry night. It is advertised as 6 to 8.30. We arrived half an hour early, we could have been sat 30 minutes earlier. But after being sat at 8pm (which we had booked weeks prior), we were felt to feel like we had just walked in 5 minutes before the kitchen was closing. The waitress's who served the table, her attitude wasn't great. We had to chase up a drinks order when sitting down. Which wouldn't have been a problem at all, but the servers poor attitude merits a mention. I'd understand if we were indeed a late sitting down, but we weren't.Lagers were flat and pipes need cleaned. Stella, carling and IPAs weren't at standard. The curries weren't great, the prawn curry was more a veg curry. One microwavable nann bread cut into 4 bits for a whole table. 1 frozen samosa, 1.5 bits of onion badji for £2.50.Chips were unbelievably good, probably the only reason this review is one star for the food rather than zero. Please rectify this, as everything else in the pub is phenomenal and previous visits have been excellent. I'd like to think this was a one off! But with almost spending nearly £60 per person I think this review was due.

A traditional country pub and restaurant with a great atmosphere. The Masons catered for our family meal of 14 and the food was excellent. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming too. We will definitely be back!

By pure chance we found the Mason Arms From the moment we stepped in to the pub, the bar maid couldn’t have been more helpful. After choosing our drinks we were shown in to the lovely dining room at the rear, the menu was a great selection of pub food greats. We shared a garlic mushroom starter and glad we did. I went for the gammon with all the trimmings and my wife had the scampi, the portions were plentiful and this is why we were glad on sharing a starter. The ladies toilets have a quirky glass topped well dressed for HalloweenWell worth the visit and we will be definitely going back as the food and especially the bar maid were tremendous

Many of the family stayed here for my Cousin's 60th birthday. the hotel was lovely. I had asked for a downstairs room and was delighted to have one. it is a long walk from the front of the building to the rooms, but they are lovely. beds are soft but comfortable. small ensuite but practical. We were at the party on Saturday night but on Sunday morning had a great breakfast, all cooked to your specification. I had bacon, sausage, black pudding (which I love) scrambled eggs, beans, and brown toast. it was lovely and plenty of mint tea for me. others in the party had a similar combination. Some had tomatoes and omitted what they did not want. Good choice of cereal and juices. Will definitely be back if I visit again.

Lunchtime. Very nice. The front end is traditional. There is a specific dining area in the modern extension. A telly nice garden area. And they appear to do modern rooms.Really recent redo of loos. According to my wife the ladies has a unusual feature well worth the visit.

Enjoyed our stay. Completely loved village life. Everything met with our expectations. Lovely bar area. Breakfast was great. Beautiful little courtyard area. Mandy was fabulous and made us feel very welcome. Husband enjoyed the fishing and I was more than happy to walk around the village and castle. Great to be in a village which reminded us of places we’ve lived in over the years. Wonderful.
