Where to start? If I could leave a minus rating for the 'lady' who works in there, I would. Small businesses are the first to complain when they go out of business, but if they treat customers in the way we have just experienced, then they don't deserve to be in business. Spend your money somewhere that deserves and wants it.Firstly, I need to clarify that we visited the shop with my 4 year old son, who is very well behaved, but is a naturally inquisitive small child finding his way in the world. Nevertheless, he knows boundaries and is recognised in his school as being impeccably behaved. From the moment my wife, my son and I set foot in the store, I could tell from the demeanour of the person behind the counter that she did not want us there. There were lots of Christmas baubles and toys at head height to a toddler, and so naturally my son was picking a few things up to look at them. We always are at pains to remind him to be careful and respectful in shops, and this is how he has been raised. If there had been any accidental breakages, we would absolutely have paid for them.It all started when my son picked up a £3.50 gingerbread Christmas tree bauble, which my wife said she would buy for him. He proceeded to start picking the price tag off it as we walked towards the till. I immediately told him to leave it on until we had bought it. The person behind the counter proceeded to say to him ( a 4 year old) "that's not yours until you've paid for it". Although not happy with her verbally ticking off our son, we decided to let that one slide as we may have misread the intention of the comment. As we were paying, she then muttered under her breath "oh he did take the tag off...I thought he had....never mind". My wife then replied "well he is only 4 years old", to which this lady replied "going on...?". Again an insinuation that he was badly behaved. My son then touched some cheap looking bracelet at the counter (also placed at head height to a toddler), to which this lady started out with "ah ah ah", again attempting to verbally discipline our son, which we do not require. If these 'precious things' are so precious, maybe don't place them within reach of a toddler?I then remarked that maybe she shouldn't welcome families with children into her shop if she didn't want items being touched, to which she remarked "I don't welcome children into my shop". We then decided not to give her the sale, to which she just slyly laughed and said 'that's fine', implying she didn't need the custom. All of this occurred 3 days before Christmas. We were in great form going into the shop, and left infuriated. To reiterate, our son is well behaved and we constantly watch him when we're out in public. We are responsible and attentive parents, and do not require a shop assistant offering us disciplinary advice. Maybe some customer service training for this lady might be well advised, as from reading previous reviews, we aren't the only one's to have an issue with this person.

Went on their website, bought some stuff, get debited, not a confirmation email with my order number, no answer to my query.I'll wait the 7 days before claiming fraudulent webshop to the bank but so far not a good experience.

This place is a hidden gem, literally!! Lots of nice stuff in here, and I particularly liked the silver jewellery and leather ware. Not much parking at the front, so I would suggest parking in the free car park on the south side of the Tyne, and taking a 250m wonderfully scenic stroll across the bridge.

I visited this place yesterday and bought a lovely bag and some candles. I was so tempted to put them back because the thing behind the till was so unwelcoming and rude I was shocked! There was a problem apparently with the debit card device. I put my card in and a receipt came out. I said oh that can't be finished I have not put my pin in. The thing replied .. obviously ...put it back in do as your told. Not even smiling as she said it. I said well it is confusing that a receipt came out. She said well it is clever and it reads the iris in your eye to see if you are trustworthy. I said oh well I have nothing to hide .oooh she said ....says you coming in here with sunglasses on. What a weird woman. It was sunshine outside. What an absolute clown who trusted her with the public! Selling goods ha ha ! I am surprised anything is sold on that shop. Unless it's her shop which makes her even more odd?. There are others who say she was rude .check out comments on the website
