Just had our dinner here what a beautiful place. Staff were lovely, had beef baguette chips and gravy and I enjoyed every bite. Nice rich gravy, amazing chips and the beef was tasty ? lovely placeKid-friendliness: Soft play area and park

We stumbled upon this place after a photo shoot we’d been doing at Simonside and thought it looked nice. Inside it’s very clean, comfortable and modern, we were slightly taken by surprise when we asked about food and we were told that they don’t start serving food until 5pm, this was on a Sunday afternoon and we thought that it was a total missed opportunity as if they did a Sunday carvery people would be travelling from far and wide to have it as I can imagine the food being nice here. What place describing itself as a bar and grill doesn’t serve food until 5pm!? I was personally also taken aback when we arrived and me being 7 and a half months pregnant I asked for a coffee and the barmaid said, “is it decaf?” I said, “well no I’d like caffeine” and the facial expression was a bit of a smirk and looking down at me, I felt judged for being heavily pregnant and asking for a non decaf coffee which is totally my choice. The coffee was so mild and weak that I felt she had given me decaf despite me saying caffeinated. My friend asked if they did bar snacks (maybe the barmaid thought she meant hot snacks) and she replied no but when my friend looked over the bar they had crisps and nuts so we asked if we could have some. Overall a lovely pub in a lovely setting but slightly judgemental and odd behaviour from a member of staff which for me was a little off putting. We’re unsure if we’ll be back but it’s a nice place to stop if you’re travelling back from a walk nearby.

This is an excellent bar with great food and friendly staff. It has an ‘adults only’ section with log burner and settees if that’s what you like but they also have a larger area with a small stage for acts and an enclosed soft play area for kids. The doors at the back lead out to a great playground for kids. Attached to their static caravan park they have acts on most ‘holiday time’Saturday evenings and do lots of charity raising with things like bingo etc. There is also a pool table. Always very keen and tidy and the toilets are kept to a high standard. Sunday lunch is a carvery that we love!

Having read some good reviews we decided to pay a visit. It is well off the beaten track, very new looking, and was outwardly clean and tidy. It had a large seating area, a kid zone, an outside play area and a pool table (more later for this). The staff, two young men were very pleasant and polite. The menu was quite good, with loads of choices. We ordered bake potato for the two children and a Balti Chicken and Chicken Sizzler. The food arrived in a good time, the place was not busy. The baked potato, beans and cheese were very good but the chicken meals were very bland. The chicken did not contain any of the spices it should have been cooked in, I think it may have been microwave from frozen and dropped into the sauce. It was as if it was prepared with a "blander". Very disappointing as it promised so much more. The sticky toffee pudding, also microwave looking, was very enjoyable. The pool table, £10 deposit per cue and a cost of 70p per game was shocking and unusual. They must have a lot of thievery in the pubs with pool table setups here. Quite a disappointment to be truthful.

Had lunch there today with my sister Caroline, her daughter Hannah and her daughters. The food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. I had the fish it was tasty the batter light as air and worth every penny. The oldest baby had a lovely lunch and as it was quiet the staff came out to chat with us. The bar manager Alex and his sister entertained Lucy so well with gifts and just keeping her amused. The kids area was closed but the outside park was available to her.Had a lovely day would recommend it to any one.

Alex and the rest of the staff make you feel really welcome. The food prices may at first look a bit pricy, but until you see the quantity and quality of the food you soon see it's definitely value for money. There is an adult only area and a family area which on various night has entertainment. At the back of the pub is a play area inside for younger children and a park and grassed area outside for older. It's clean and inviting with free WiFi.

Wasted Journey, rang before we left home to check what the timings were for a Sunday roast. We were told we could arrive until 15.00 and that they were serving until this time. We arrived 13.30 and put our 2 adult meal orders in for the carvery to be then told they had a group booking and they needed to keep the rest of the food for the booking, when I explained I rang to check on the way here they said the booking communication had not been past on to the person who answered the phone.
