Very good takeaway. Freshly cooked. Nice a busy but short wait. 3 sizes of fish to choose from very good.

Really disappointing as the takeaway was recommended , however fish was overcooked and dry and batter was soggy. Chips were cold.

Usually have to queue which I take as a good sign. Batter on fish occasionally soggy.

Knew this place would be good as it was already busy before noon on a wet Wednesday. Not disappointed, huge portions of fish, light crispy batter and great chips and peas. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Great local chippy .

Thought I’d stop and get A quick bite to eat , so decided to pop in to this place for a simple Chip Butty. Eventually got served after 5 minute wait asked for chip butty .. the woman shouted to her other work mate one chicken.. I looked at her in disbelief .. I corrected her saying chip butty . Eyes to the ceiling she bawled the correct order . When it come I noticed you had to pay an extra 30pence for brown sauce sachet.. in Scotland this is free… She was so rude and ignorant serving me . I emptied the sauce onto the chips and left the empty sachets on the counter, she then advised me that I’d have to take them as they were not allowed to bin them. I couldn’t believe it.. what a expensive chip shop and shocking service. I definitely wouldn’t go back. £4 for a Chip Butty with ignorant service… no thanks .

Absolutely fantastic fish bar. So fresh and very generous portions, even for a small cod! Well worth the money and definitely needed after a long day of walking!

Absolutely appalling food. Cold chips and grossly overcooked fish that was more batter than fish. Been patronising this chippy for over 20 years when visiting Northumberland and I most certainly will not be doing again.

We called here after a recommendation from someone we met and didn't feel let down. The fish was of good size and it came with a good sized portion of chips (too many for me). We took them away and ate them overlooking the harbour. Would visit again if we were in the area.

Very clean and nice fish bar, staff are polite and the lady that served us also shared my hatred of scraps or as I call it "fish eczema" Nicely priced for two large chip butties, gravy & curry sauce. Now the reason for the loss of one star. It's not because of people up north being incapable to make fishcakes as we do in Yorkshire no it's down to the fact the curry sauce tasted like a jar of patak's curry sauce had been poured over a dry Christmas fruit mix and let it stew for most of the day. So if you avoid said tub of questionable concoction it's a really nice place to eat

We love The Harbour Fish Bar in Amble purely for the reason that it's the only place I know which sells Beanies. They are amazing! The queue was out of the door but we didn't have to wait long for our food. The portions were a good size and very tasty and I love all of the scraps that you get!
