First time in Northumberland and we were looking for somewhere to have some fish after a coastal walk. Thankfully a nearby pub we had seen online was closed (despite the sign and internet saying otherwise!), we then found The Fish Shack down on the quay and having parked the the car the smells coming from this little restaurant were amazing. Booked a table for 2 and given the best seats in the house in a booth directly overlooking the sea view. Staff and service amazing. Menu extensive with non- fish options too and specials. Wide selection of drinks. We had local beer battered haddock with triple cooked home made fries served with a lemon wedge, mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce. I had a beer flight of 3 ales chosen off a beer flight menu. Good outstanding. Massive portions. Excellent value for money, Quirky venue....read full review

Excellent oysters and a generous, well cooked turbot made this a memorable meal. The desert coffee and tarts lacked imagination & could easily be improved. Lovely waiting staff.
