No fuss, no gimmicks. Real beef, not a catering pack in sight, beautifully cooked and generous portions too. Friendly and attentive service in a traditional country pub setting. Good real ale options from local "First and Last" brewery. Close to Wallington National Trust and Belsay Hall English Heritage.

A perfect stop for Sunday lunch on a cold January bike ride - roaring fires, a friendly and attentive bar man, generous and tasty roast dinner. Highly recommended.

This serves plain great Sunday lunch. On our visit, only one barman who was very helpful and busy. Really enjoyed it.
A wonderful local pub which is evidently a hub of activity. While there we saw lots of events on the board for a variety of exciting nights. The food smelt amazing and the drinks tasted immaculate.Well with popping in for. There's a dart board and 2 coal fires!Winter bliss

Really disappointed. Food wasn't up to standard and very overpriced. Made to feel unwelcome by locals and staff
