Came for a day out and chose the restaurant for takeaway. Whilst the young lady who served us was absolutely delightful, little could be said for the rest. Fish was watery, had sweet taste to it and didn't taste or look like cod at all. Chips wouldn't have been too bad if they hadn't been covered with so much salt amd peas tasted of absolutely nothing. Paid around £26 for 2 people, waste of money and spoiled the end of our day.

Have tried Lewis’s and Neptune and decided to try Hook for takeaway had fish n chips wife had scampi n chips and we had peas ,fish was lovely scampi the same and peas were very nice but same old story chips we’re anemic and obviously been cooked and left and not good potato’s .What is it with chips at fish shops can none cook proper chips plus not cheap at £23.

I really don't want to leave a negative review anywhere but on this occasion I feel I mustWe went in to be greeted by"We're closed" very rude man and arrogant attitude,no sign on door to let customers know, I can't believe people speak like this to customers.

Very nice fish and chips. Went early afternoon and fish cooked to order. Well worth the wait. Ate on the benches down the road, but you can eat in.

Worst fish and chips I've ever had! And so close to the sea. Over priced and tasteless. Staff are unwelcoming and bathroom is abysmal.

Visited the takeaway on a Sunday evening, the best Haddock and Chips I've had in a long time. Thought I'd had good across the road the previous day but the fish here was much tastier.

Amazing chip shop. We had ours to go. We had a fish n chips and a haggis n chips. Both were 9f the highest quality. Sat on the benches down the lane watching the farne islands. Great place, highly recommended.

Hook fish and chips describes itself as fish and chips with a modern twist. The modern does not extend to their opening hours as they turned people away closing at 4pm on what I presume must be one of the busiest days despite a queue out of the door as they’re not cooking more chips at this time of night**Night in this case being 3.55pm…. as the staff need to get a bus to Newcastle despite a queue of customers that could more than justify paying for alternative transport…

Excellent food, we went for vegan fish n chips. There was so much food that we didn’t eat for the rest of the day. Staff were friendly

The best scampi and chips we've had anywhere. The scampi pieces are large and very crisp, and the chips are excellent.

Should have read reviews earlier as wouldn't have bothered.old chips, small fish served by grumpy old lady who knew she should have retired years ago

Fish tasted strange, batter was soggy and chips weren’t anything to write home about all in all not the best experience. Should have gone to Neptunes.
