Dropped in for evening meal. Made to feel very welcome. Friendly, swift service, good food, and reasonably priced.

Went in the Hearty for a quick drink after a walk, went to bar and started to order the drinks. We went to sit at a table in the corner which did say DEB 5.00, this was 4.30 sat down and a minute later the landlord shot over and rudely said that we can’t sit there as the table was booked. This upset our son who has learning difficulties and he ran out the pub. As of 5:00 when we left the table was still empty. This was absolutely disgusting and we will not be going to the Hearty again!

We stopped here for lunch on our way to York. We were warmly greeted when we walked in which is always nice ? We were directed to table options. Nice fire bursted to the welcome. An extensive menu so we were spoilt for choice. We opted for Brie and bacon baguette and fish finger baguette with the most delicious chips I have had ? Good sized portions and the food was delivered to us quickly and really good quality. We would definitely recommend The Goodfellow ??

Went for a meal here before going to Southwell Minster. It is a lovely place, with friendly staff and excellent food. Will definitely return if in the area again.

Six of us met here for lunch, in very pretty Southwell, which has a spectacular Minster. The real ale choice was good, matched by a lunch menu with several attractive options (including a two-courser), from which the scampi was a firm favorite. The staff were both friendly and attentive and based on the bill, it was very good value for what we consumed.

When I called to reserve an early (5pm) table, the young lady who answered was very pleasant On arrival, we ordered Steak & Ale pie Gammon Sea Bass All meals were delivered quickly, arrived piping hot, were well presented and very enjoyable My meal was Sea Bass, served on ratatouille with asparagus. The sea bass was a generous size, plentiful tasty ratatouille and perfectly cooked asparagus The gammon was served with a 1/6 wedge of fresh pineapple, a pleasant departure from a tinned pineapple ring Our friend enjoyed his pie & mash The pub was pleasantly decorated, smart and clean. Our opinion was the Hearty Goodfellow was a good find and we would eat there again

Went for a Sunday lunch with family; traditional roast beef lunch was delightful!Service was excellent even though they were very busy; staff were particularly welcoming, polite and professional.Really good pub with a great atmosphere and outdoors areas suitable for the whole family.Great value as well considering the overall high quality.Highly recommend.Vegetarian options: Friend had a nut roast option which was apparently delicious.

A most excellent plate of fish and chips. Perfectly brown and crispy batter over still juicy cod with crunchy golden chips, delicately minted mushy peas and creamy tartare. Great selection of beers on tap, plentiful outdoor seating and a children's play area. Superb.

Made a booking by telephone, on arrival, they had no knowledge of the booking and no real interest in sorting out the problem as the place was very busy. Advised we could eat but to "expect a delay" we moved on to another place ( the Saracens head) and had a great meal, prompt and friendly service and staff. Won't be going back!

Great spot for meeting friends and having a good meal. We were visiting Southwell for the first time and catching up with some friends for dinner...we really enjoyed our evening in the pub.

Very very busy on my visit with some sort of garden event and live music. Shows its popular and loved, would want to return on a 'normal ' night tbf as service suffered a tad and hard to get served with folk getting served while I was just ignored at the bar waiting. Still, had Longhorn on, which is lovely and pub should be judged on a less crazy night which intend to do
