“Great beers (3 or 4 real ale choices) mostly by Wellbeck Abbey, and excellent food. Friendly to visitors, and gets surprisingly busy in the tap room on weekday afternoons. Very large lounge if you want it quiet.Visited again in March 2023, everything above still true.”

“Food was excellent, 9 adults and three kids (between 2-6 yes old) all had with various meals. Three vegans, one vegetarian, all really well catered for. Food piping hot and, considering the various meals, not too long a wait.”

“Super band, always the sun, beer, clean toilets up disabled friendly stairs bars on both sides, no lift, All good apart from distinct smell of burnt? parrafin. Can't comment on food as none offered at time. Go visit! Will be going again.”

Plus fries. And was shocked how good the burger was. Very tasty and juicy indeed, and loverly sauce to compliment. Could of done with more fries.Food 9/10Atmosphere 8/10Service 7/10”

“Great place to stop for a bite to eat and a drink. There is a large seating area, both inside and out, including a rather unusual outdoor TV. There is plenty of parking space available on site. It is close to the motorway and if you are travelling between London and The North then it's worth a small detour for a drink and a rest.”

“The food was excellent and the service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing, giving us time to relax and just enjoy ourselves. The atmosphere was very quiet when we arrived, and slowly picked up towards the end eventually becoming somewhat lively, but was never obnoxiously loud which is ideal for my fiancée who has sensory issues; in addition, the tables were well spaced which would be ideal for wheelchair users and in addition to the lighting, gave the place a warm and comforting environment. There was music of course, but it wasn't loud and featured a good selection of artists that for our musical tastes, were perfect.I had cajun spiced butterfly chicken with chips, and fruit crumble with custard for dessert, and my fiancée had cajun chicken burger and chips, and a sundae for dessert, and we could not get enough of it, it was amazing. The total came to just over £42, which is a bit higher than we would normally pay for for a meal for two, but in this case I think the price was more than justified, I've heard good things about the three legged stool, and for us it definitely did not disappoint.”
