It was an absolute pleasure to visit The Red Lion Inn in September, 2023. We were exhausted after spending the entire day at the WB Studio Tour in London, and we arrived just as the kitchen was about to close. A very kind and heartwarming lady checked us in and immediately took our food order so that we could eat before heading to our room. We ordered the Fish and Chips and the Chicken. Both dishes were quite generous (which we didn't mind at all because we were starving) and incredibly tasty. The ambiance is incredibly pleasant and relaxing, and Bella, the dog, was such a sweetheart. The rooms were exceptionally comfortable and quiet. We wished we had one more night to enjoy our stay and the room a bit better. The room was clean, the bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and the bathroom was beautiful. It was Hobbit's day, and we got to experience it with the tiny doors that required a bit of crouching to pass through, but nothing that would deter anyone from staying there. Now, let's talk about breakfast. What an experience! We are not from the UK, so we had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious and authentic English Breakfast in a room filled with other very kind guests. It was simply brilliant. We loved every single aspect of our stay at The Red Lion Inn and can't recommend it highly enough.Once again, we would like to thank the lady that check us in. Unfortunately, we forgot your name but you were very kind to us and made the whole experience even better.

We had a lovely two night stay, the staff were lovely, and so was our room. We decided to dine in in the evening, we weren't disappointed as the food was amazing and log fires burning, just perfect. The breakfast was also fabulous, spoilt for choice. The area is very beautiful, we visited the rolltop stones and diddly squat farm shop.

I'd take only a star off for the location which is no fault of the hotel itself.> Welcome was warm and all.information needed given.> Room was exceptionally comfortable, Molton Brown items in the bathrooms and fresh coffee bags not instant (important for me!)>Food in restaurant was exceptional and reasonably priced for quality.>Dogs treated like royalty.

Really quite a bizarre experience. And a bizarre set of 5 star reviews. Makes the whole thing pointless. This place is a shambles. Pas Agg staff, completely overwhelmed kitchen, absolutely zero customer service. Everyone spends their entire time explaining why you can’t do apparently completely normal things; buy food, order drinks, get a (empty) table etc. Any query about why that’s the case is met with some sort of superior dismissal. Extraordinarily inept at running a business. A shame. As aside from the the staff incompetence and rudeness there’s a lovely pub waiting to break out.

Everything about my stay was absolutely wonderful! All staff were so warm and welcoming, they couldn't have been any nicer. They even provided me with a spare tube of toothpaste which they went out of their way to find for me. They really went above and beyond. I travel the country with my wedding photography business and The Red Lion Inn is full of carefully considered details in the room that sets them apart from other hotels. I don't want to mention them because it will spoil discovering them for yourself :) The breakfast was absolutely impeccable and full of nice touches such as their delicious homemade marmalade. I left The Red Lion Inn feeling calm, relaxed and desperately wanting to come back!

We stopped in here whilst exploring the area for a drink and bar snacks. Lovey atmosphere with large beer garden. The staff were friendly and the building and gardens were clean and beautifully presented. Chips were very nice and they had lots of gluten free options on the menu.

This Inn was amazing! It was super clean, both rooms and restaurant and the staff could not do enough for us to help us enjoy our stay. The food was out of this world (try their home made steak pie) .Would we go back ? Definitely Would we recommend it? We already have.

A rare glimpse of the last art of hostelry, my one night stay at the Red Lion delivered innkeeping at its finest. Leaving London late, I needed a place to break the journey to Wales. Despite the late booking and near midnight arrival, the manager - Lisa - was super-accommodating, offering a last room and to wait up for me despite, as I later found out, her needing to be up again before 8am to prepare Saturday breakfast for a full hotel. Warmly met, I was shown my clean and cosy room (great linen) before being offered a nightcap which I took in the garden (it was a warm night). Breakfast was at the high end, served promptly by a cheerful Lisa and her colleagues. Top drawer stopover and great value roadside inn with cosy rooms and a thoughtful, generous host who was the epitome of old-fashioned hospitality.

Cosy, super clean pub with very attentive and helpful staff and employees. Very friendly welcome and good explanation and guidance to the room. Comfortable bed, good pillow, clean bathroom. Friendly atmosphere, good value for money and something for everyone on the menu. Presentation of dishes is great! The garden terrace is a wonderful place when the weather is nice.

Wow, what a little gem of an Inn! I have been daydreaming over this lovely place since we reluctantly left it in April this year. We stayed for 2 nights with my little dog. I loved the look of the place when my partner booked it a few months before we went and it was just as wonderful in real life. It is cosy and homely with friendly staff and a very talented chef who has been there a long time I was told. We ate in both nights. I had a vegetarian curry on the first night and then the salad with caramelized pecans followed by the fruit crumble on the second night. I loved my meal choices, my partner had meat based meals such as the pie and really enjoyed them as well. Hands down, the best two meals of that variety I have had anywhere. The breakfast was amazing! I was so relaxed sitting in front of the fire with the lab lying on the floor basking in the sun. I had a compote to start, followed by the vegetarian breakfast. Loved the coffee in the cafetiere and the choice of jams pots was a nice touch. The room then was snug, but manageable with a choice of tea/coffee/ water and biscuits. The table these were on was a bit unstable so we had to be careful, the shower was a little awkward and we had to duck as the ceiling was low so we held the shower head to shower. But a wonderfully decorated room full of character and a generous size bathroom. TV was a good size as well. Close location wise to Diddly Squat Farm and Stratford Upon Avon. I really want to return soon! Thank you to all staff for this splendid experience.

Stopped here on the way back to Birmingham from Diddley Squat. It was a Sunday afternoon and we hadn’t booked in advance but thought we’d try our luck. What a great decision we made. They were busy but the very friendly lady behind the bar managed to get us seated and we had the most beautiful food. Would highly recommend. I’ll definitely be stopping by next time I’m in the area

Driving through Long Compton on Sunday, saw the Red Lion and thought, 'that looks nice, wonder if they can squeeze us in for lunch.'We received a lovely warm welcome and squeeze us in they did! The service was exceptional and the food (beef burger and vegan burger) arrived quickly and was really delicious and reasonably priced. There was a certificate at the bar celebrating the fact that they were regional winners of the Best Pub Award. From what we experienced they should be contenders for a national award!Highly recommended.
