So good, loved the whole experience . Great value as you get fine dining innovation, but familiar flavours and decent portions. Me and my siblings had a wide range of things across the menu. Lots of extra touches like the after dinner pastels. We didn’t take any photos but that was because we were too busy eating . Luke was an excellent host and the team were friendly . Really nicely decorated too

Did the Taste the Season vegan taster menu with my partner which was one of the best foodie experiences I've ever had. Beautiful food, in a delighful environment, with warm, knowledgable service.Dietary restrictions: Great vegan tasting menu, good alternatives to non-vegan options, and a host who was both interested and knowledgable.

Excellent food cooked to perfection. My son and I enjoyed a Christmas Day lunch at Orwells Restaurant. The food was a delight as usual and the hosts Ryan & Liam are such lovely, friendly people. Always welcoming. The restaurant was decorated beautifully and with such care. Such a lovely place to enjoy Christmas lunch. Liam gave us both champagne to begin with before we even sat down ! There were homemade breads with various small starters. There were 5 courses and for my main course I chose the traditional turkey, although there was goose or beef filet on the menu, with all the trimmings. I enjoyed the lobster course also. Amongst the pudding/desert courses, I had an unusual dish of cherries with chocolate. My son doesn’t usually enjoy desert, but he remarked how good it was. Everything is freshly cooked and delicious, it is the best restaurant by far in the area. I was full by the end but Millie gave me the homemade mince pies in a cute box to take home. 5*. This was Christmas lunch and as one would expect, it is not cheap, but well worth the experience and exceptional food. Service excellent and especially to Millie.Dietary restrictions: On booking you are usually asked if you have any intolerance or allergies to any particular food.Parking: Lots of space

Had the vegetarian full tasting menu. One of the courses was a single tiny whole carrot which had a crumb coating on it. The coating was overly greasy and because it was a carrot it wouldn’t adhere properly so just fell off. I actually laughed because I thought it was a joke. As a vegetarian serving up a single vegetable, felt like someone was taking the mike at my expense (literally)! Another course was a small piece of vegetable (again) that was so tough to eat, I couldn’t get my knife through it and ended up splashing my top, I gave up and left it. Whilst at the restaurant I fedback that I thought the vegetarian choice was really disappointing, and it was met with indifference. The meat version was ‘alright’ (his words) but again nothing special. In summary I felt it was a lazy vegetarian menu, for which we paid a premium price. Very underwhelmed and disappointed. Plus points: nice internal decor and atmosphere.

My wife and I ate here we really enjoyed the tasting menu and wines to Complement our food we absolutely loved the produce they used, particularly the Mylor prawns were out of this world. The service matched the food, we can't wait to come back. Staff are a credit to the establishment thanks to all and looking forward to making this our go to place.

We travelled from Liverpool as a planned trip to fit in this lunch. It did not disappoint, from tasty canapés, followed by a stunning amuse bouche, our courses hit all the taste notes, complex, seasoned, rich, layered and lingered, not much more to say. Sweetbreads 5*, steak tartare 5*, duck 5* and fallow deer.5*. As seasoned foodies (my husband is also an exceptional fine dining chef) we enjoyed every mouthful. No small bites of food here… great value. Thank you throughly enjoyed it.

Brilliant cooking. What a find. Ate from the a la carte menu and the flavours / presentation/ overall quality was exceptional. And in these days of soaring costs where everything seems to take you by surprise, the value here was again excellent! Ten out of ten, more if I could. Well done to the Orwell’s team.

Our second time to Orwell's; this time with foodie guests who have treated us to Michelin starred restaurants in the past. Every single dish, and we all had different ones over a three course meal, was absolutely, mouthwateringly delicious. I don't eat meat but didn't feel like the veggie options were an afterthought at all, as can happen in some restaurants; they were well considered, interesting and varied. Definitely one of my top places to go.

Very tasty, imaginative tasting menu. Need to allow 4 hours for the full menu. Good selection of decent wine. Very helpful service. Service discretionary which is appreciated.

I’ve wanted to go for ages, but never managed more than their (delicious) take aways during lockdown. Finally went for the full monty - which is now a huge tasting menu (if there is an a la carte it’s well hidden) though you can have half a tasting menu (a mere 7 courses). The amuse set the scene with a tasty croquette and a weird lemongrassy stale foam/biscuit. Hit and miss. So the rest of the meal. Delicious turbot - literally inedible “garden pasta”, which turned out to be courgette stalks. Apparently, there’s a reason people don’t usually eat them. Maybe it was delicious in the spring, but it’s the only time I’ve ever not eaten a dish at a fancy restaurant (or almost any restaurant). The OFC (Orwell’s fried chicken) was mysteriously served on a bed of limes and dry ice (good photo op only), even more mysteriously with caviar on top. I love caviar - but not on my fried chicken (the coating of which fell off). Deer faggot with horseradish ice cream tasty and interesting, lamb cutlet boring - not even particularly good lamb which was disappointing. Desserts were best, both the deconstructed crumble and especially the well presented and effective chocolate sphere filled with different mousses. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The sommelier refreshingly laid back but maybe too studiously “what’s that grape called again?” Good choices of wine, and the surprise Frangelico with the chocolate sphere worked really well. Overall, felt the food was too ambitious. Better to provide fewer courses but make sure they are all spot on.
