This fish and chip shop was absolutely faultless. From the moment we arrived, the friendly and welcoming attitude of the owners really stood out—they made us feel welcomed.
The shop operates on a cash-only basis, which we found refreshing.
As for the food, the chips were hands down the best we’ve had in a long time—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. Everything was cooked fresh and served piping hot. You can tell there’s real care and pride taken in the food here.
The price was affordable and we did not fell ripped off.
Overall, a fantastic experience. Great service, excellent food. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for top-quality fish and chips.

We stumbled upon this place by chance while looking for steak and seafood, and it turned out to be such a lovely surprise. The staff were incredibly friendly, even showing us how to de-shell the prawns, and the food was outstanding. It genuinely felt like we’d popped round to someone’s home for dinner — only the cooking was far better than anything I could make.

We arrived at Orwells and had a very warm welcome as soon as we walked through the door. We had the option of enjoying a drink in the beautiful garden from the bar or to be seated at our table. We opted for the garden and took in the amazing scenery.

Bella our server for the afternoon introduced herself and was very friendly and helpful. We chose to have a bottle of red and Bella offered the help from another member of the serving team to help us if needed.

When we had enjoyed one glass of our red from our bottle in the garden, Bella showed us to our table. We had a perfect view of the bar and a glimpse of the kitchen. The music was a great mix of 80s classics and set a great atmosphere for our spectacular meal.

The meal was exquisite and the service impeccable. A big thank you to the amazing mixologist at the bar who made the most remarkable and memorable cocktails.

Thank you Liam and Ryan for such a fabulous experience we will definitely be returning to try the tasting menu and will highly recommend you to family and friends.

We visited Giggling Squid yesterday for our anniversary meal and had a truly wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.

The team were fantastic and made us feel really looked after, they even wished us a happy anniversary and surprised us with a complimentary dessert, which was such a lovely touch. A special mention to Jon, who was especially accommodating and provided beautiful, attentive service throughout the evening.

Thank you to the whole team for making our anniversary so memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

The Chocolate Cafe is a nice cosy cafe just off the Thames river banks in Henley on Thames.
They got good choices of sandwiches and hot food and drinks.
Staff is very friendly.
There are outdoor seatings with beautiful views of the Thames waterfront. There are toliets on premise.

Parking: There is a parking lot a short walking distance from the cafe. On a nice sunny days, it will be a bit stuggle to find a spot. There are also street parking nearby.

Popped in with a friend for a light lunch and ended up staying all afternoon for drinks.
Food was fine. Drinks were great but pricey.
Service was excellent - attentive but not pushy. Fatima had a great sense of humour.

Had a wonderful meal here after the restaurant was recommended to us by a Nepalese friend. Being greeted by the chef was a particularly nice touch. Having enjoyed some of the excellent Indian food that Henley has to offer, we were keen to try some of the Nepalese offerings on the menu. The Fewa Fish Curry was a particular highlight, tangy and sweet with a lot of interesting flavour. The naan bread was beautifully crispy and a generous size! We'll be here again.

What a find.
The Anchor Inn is a very short & pleasant walk out of the main st & is so worth a visit. We had a cracking welcome & met some lovely locals. There was a welcome log burner on the go adding to the atmosphere of this traditional pub. Drink selection is good as well is the lunch menu, best chilli beef going & clearly freshly cooked food.

We had our wedding reception here, and what can I say — it was absolutely amazing.
All the staff were incredibly friendly and kind throughout the day. Chintan cooked the barbecue food to perfection — it tasted incredible and was a real highlight for many of our guests.

Vicky and Vishal were fantastic in helping us prepare and made sure everything ran smoothly on the day. Their attention to detail and calm approach took a lot of pressure off us, and we’re so grateful.

The venue comfortably hosted around 130 guests. We were also lucky with the weather, which made the day feel even more special.

If you're thinking of a venue to use, I’d highly recommend them. They truly helped make our big day unforgettable.

Zizzi Henley is in an old building with wooden ceilings and floors that travels you back in time. And the festive Christmas decorations are as much to help you get in the mood for Christmas holidays

Just superb in every way, we thoroughly enjoyed my birthday here today. Everything was so perfect, the ambiance, service and the food. My wife had the Carvery that just looked amazing and I had the Beef and Guinness pie with mash and wow this was so beautiful and tasted so perfect. A lovely choice for my daughters also, with one being a vegetarian. We shall definitely be coming again for sure, we had such a memorable day which was made so special by this beautiful Little Angel of a place.

Took my Dad here on a quiet Thursday lunch for his 81st birthday, and we both had a lovely time.
We didn't know where to start with the menu to be honest, so the guidance from the owner was gentle and informative.
Ended up sharing the melted camembert and the had the shared cheese and cured meats board, with a couple of glasses of wine.
Tried some cheeses and meats I'd never seen before, and loved just how easy and laid back it was. Was quite fun too, and not something I do very often.
Highly recommend, can imagine busier with different vibe in the evening, but that's no bad thing.

I had an absolutely wonderful meal at Spice Merchant in Henley. From the moment we walked in, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed — perfect for both a casual lunchtime and a special occasion.

The food was outstanding — beautifully presented and full of authentic flavors. Every dish tasted fresh and perfectly spiced, especially the winter warmers ,chicken tikka biryani. The naan was soft and fluffy, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming.

It’s clear that a lot of care goes into both the cooking and the service here. Easily one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. I’ll definitely be returning soon and recommending it to friends and family!

A great find! We had various breakfast/brunch dishes. Food was fresh, tasty and well presented. Staff friendly, caring and effective. This place doesn't look special from the outside but well worth a visit, especially convenient for the nearby campsites. We enjoyed: Sweet potato cakes with poached eggs, vegetarian breakfast, pancakes with bacon, sausage and bacon baps. Hot drinks and milkshakes - all good!

We called in by chance when we saw the welcoming glow through the window on a damp Sunday afternoon. Also noticed the Wales v France rugby was on (less said about that game the better! ). What a gem of a pub! A proper traditional feel with a few locals plus a few passers by like us. We felt very relaxed sat at the bar and enjoyed the hospitality of the hosts. The landlady was clearly proud of the pub, its history and heritage and was happy to engage in conversation. Thoroughly recommend a visit to this establishment!

Stopped off here for supper after a day exploring Henley. Excellent location, cosy and authentic Italian food with very attentive staff. The blonde lady who I assume is front of house there was particularly warm and welcoming when we arrived and made us feel very well looked after throughout the evening. We had the focaccia bread to start which we saw was freshly cooked from their pizza oven in the restaurant which added an even more authentic feel to the restaurant. Both had the beef bolognese which was perfect, very hot and the beef was really good quality. Wide dessert menu, we had the cheesecake to share but will be back for the hot chocolate sponge!

We booked the tipi at The Bottle and Glass Inn for my friend's chilled, family-friendly hen do. The staff, especially Lauren, were absolutely phenomenal from planning to execution. The space itself is amazing. We had fresh pastries to start the day, amazing coffee, a terrarium building class (we organised externally), followed by a delicious afternoon tea where they catered for all dietary requirements including a vegan friendly option. The team were happy for us to have a soft play area in the tipi for the children too. Couldn't recommend them more. Thanks so much for everything!
