We stopped for lunch from our walk of the local countryside to find a large, whitewashed building on the edge of the village. Once through the unprepossessing front door you are met with a small cozy bar quickly running into a couple of large rooms set for dining. Tables well spaced. Three cask ales on tap and the local beer was sampled and found to be excellent and well served by friendly knowledgeable staff. Visited The Highwayman Inn today for lunch with my wife and two friends. It was my first visit and I was very impressed. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food we had was home cooked, extremely tasty and reasonably priced. Overall our visit was really enjoyable and we will be returning.Parking: The pub has a large car park.

Had not visited the Highwayman for quite some years, but it has been consistently recommended by friends - so we went for lunch. Warm cosy atmosphere with big log stove - very relaxing. Chose from a la carte menu (there is also a set lunch choice) as prices reasonable. Excellent meal and faultless service. Duck for main was plentiful and cooked to perfection for me. Wife's fish and chips also 'perfect'. We are looking forward to going back.
