Booked for a meal with friends mid week but arrived to find there was no reserved table and the pub was busy with drinkers and people playing pool. We had looked at the menu online and my friend who booked was told that the menu would be the same on the day. It was similar but the chicken bites did not appear to have a choice of sauces unlike the online menu and there were differences like the bites not being described as chicken thighs or the chips being homemade/rustic. Friends still decided on the chicken bites but when the food arrived we were very disappointed. The fries looked pale and appeared to be very similar to branded frozen oven chips you buy in supermarkets presented on their own in a white bowl. The breaded chicken bites, in a separate white bowl, arrived with no sauce whatsoever (menu said spicy sauce I believe) and looked very unappealing. We queried where the sauce was with the lad who was serving us and he seemed very perplexed by our request! He went back in to the kitchen and came back with some sauce drizzled over the top. The chicken bites/nuggets were dry and tasteless, my burger was ok but with pale fries and there was no care over the presentation. Plonked on to cheap white plates and bowls. I don’t know if it was because it was mid week but the photos on the website did not represent what we were served! We also had a dog jumping up when we were trying to eat. It is probably a good drinkers pub but the food was pretty poor. I wish I’d taken photos to show the difference in what we were served and what was advertised online!

Very noisy and packed by families with kids and so many builders having a libation after work.

Great little village pub. Garden is kept very well. Top end Beer is at a good price. Staff and locals very friendly.

The pub does food on the weekend and is a friendly local during the week. Allows dogs. To get a wheelchair through the door is a bit of a faff but I have quite a wide one and it will go. You won't be able to get a Mid wheel drive chair in this pub. But if the weather is good you can use the side gate to use the garden. However, getting to the loo would be an issue. I can personally get my rear wheel drive in here. I've been able to get my Q200r, Esprit and also manual with Alber wheels. I think my Bora used to get in here too. But you do have a lip on the front door and also two front doors to get through. So you might need help. If locals are around they will usually help. The disabled to o in let is not really accessible just from the garden though. If you can abulate it's abot 4 steps in past the back door. If you can get in the front door then it's fully disabled. A small rubber ramp wouldn't cost a lot and they really could do with improving that factor. Otherwise the pub is a good one.Food. Well, that tends to depend on who the chef is at that time. At the time of writing the chef is decent. The pub has gentle music inside. Outside they have one game an a garden but it's going to be updated. The kids playground was pulled out and they are doing an outside bar there.Nice friendly local and a decent Sunday roast.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly but the play equipment has been removed.Wheelchair accessibility: See my very detailed review about wheelchair access.Dietary restrictions: Currently this is a VERY gluten free friendly restaurant. Depends on what chef they get next I guess.

Unusual review to follow, but thought I’d post a review to assist anyone thinking of The Waggon as a venue for a funeral wake/celebration of life or any other type of function. Sadly I’ve been here twice over the last year to attend two funeral wakes/celebration of life functions. The venue is perfect as they have a large room that can be adapted perfectly. Staff are helpful & on hand. Buffet food was good & plentiful. Only comment I would add is there was a serious lack of crockery, just a suggestion that perhaps some good quality recyclable plates would be a good idea, preferable to using saucers or bowls for buffet savouries. Good location & would recommend.

A nicely layer out pub with plenty of seating inside and out. Staff are polite and friendly. The customers are a good mix of young and old. The drinks list is varied and the food excellent. There is a large car park put also a short walk to bus stop on main S6 bus route. We travelled there on S6 and had a pleasant evening with a great meal. Well worth the 15 minutes bus journey we took. Will definitely visit again.

Every time I've been in this pub the pints have been flat.Asked the obnoxiously tattooed barman for a replacement and he blamed it on the warm glass and poured the same flat beer into another equally warm glass. Unacceptable. Especially when you're charging close to £5 a pint! That's some lame juice man! Some real weak sauce!

Feel very fortunate to live local to this pub, the food is really good and the pub itself is a gem.
