Pubs in Wallingford

“Great classic British pub. This is an excellent pub food with friendly and efficient service. They have a great value and beautifully cooked traditional menu. My wife had steak and ale pie which she said was about the best she'd had, I had fish and chips... light crispy batter and well cooked fish.”

“Good quality roast dinner (pork seemed the better option between the beef on our visit), the kids menu gave lots of good options, and the desserts were excellent. The venue itself was lovely, with friendly, attentive and professional service. All in all, great pub and we’ll be back again…. I’d likely have given 5 stars, just needed a bit more/thicker cut of beef more more liking :-), and maybe a touch more veg.”

“Just dropped in for a quick drink when passing on a warm afternoon. The Wadsworth 6X was in fine condition.Good selection of gins too.We didn't eat (too late in the afternoon) but the menu looked to be a good range of standard pub grub. Next time, perhaps.”

“Popped in for a pint and lunch on a Sunday cycle ride but they don't do cooked food, just nuts and crisps etc. Good pint of Doombar Amber, plenty of space in the old cottage bar and a big garden with picnic tables and play equipment for the kids.”

“Wow what a find! An attractive traditional pub in a lovely village setting serving delicious home cooked meals. Friendly landlord and landlady made us very welcome despite our late arrival after taxi delays. Also allowed us to wait (again) for our return taxi after everyone else had gone. If only we lived nearer we would return regularly.”

“We had a lovely lunch here today. Great friendly service and it's wonderful to see the new owners have invested in new benches out the front. Keep up the good work ?”

“We were boating Dorchester to Mapledurham and moored up in the village for reasons of fond memories (our family used to live here) . We always visited the Catherine Wheel ad I'm happy to say the food and service and ales are still as great as they always were. We sat in the garden and the pub and garden had plenty of space for social distancing and you could even buy handmade facemasks at the bar. Lovely to come back here.”
