“The food was surprisingly excellent for a Sunday pub roast, delicious, perfectly cooked and presented. Staff were warm and welcoming - could have maybe brought us our cutlery, we sat outside in the beer garden, which was lovely. Really recommend it if you’re looking for a great Sunday roast - especially if you’ve rocked up at Jeremy Clarkson’s nearby Farmers Dog only to find you needed a reservation or wait 3 hours - this place is just down the road and still sells Clarkson’s Hawkstone’s beer ? but even if it didn’t, you’d still enjoy your time and food at this pub :)”

“We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Ye Old Cross Keys, and it’s safe to say this gem of a pub exceeded every expectation. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, authentic, and quintessentially English, the kind of place that makes you instantly feel at home.
The star of the evening, without a doubt, was Bex, the bartender. She is nothing short of brilliant: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell she takes pride in making sure every guest feels looked after, and her energy brings so much life to the pub. She’s the sort of person who turns a good night into a great one.
As for the food, it was exactly what you hope for when you come to a traditional English pub. The fish and chips were golden, crisp, and perfectly cooked, with flaky fish inside and that satisfying crunch on the outside, served with proper chips that tasted like comfort on a plate. The pie and mash was equally outstanding: hearty, rich, and bursting with flavour, with a buttery pastry crust that sealed the deal. Both dishes felt homemade in the best possible way, cooked with care and love.
All in all, Ye Old Cross Keys is everything a pub should be: excellent food, a warm and authentic atmosphere, and above all, staff who make the experience unforgettable. If you’re lucky enough to have Bex behind the bar, you’re in for an exceptional time. We’ll definitely be back!”

“Staying nearby and so walked there to grab some food after I flew in earlier today. They had finished serving much earlier and there was no roast left but they still kindly made me some fish and chips. The fish was fresh and the chips were really good. You could tell that it was freshly made with oil that was not stale.
The pub was quite empty with a couple of women and their kids there and then a few other people turned up and they all started chatting and ended up singing even though they didn't know each other. It was such a great atmosphere. They started to chat with me too and made me feel very welcome even though I was not a local!
Super friendly and welcoming village pub with what seems to be good traditional pub food. Will look forward to trying out the roasts on my next trip if I can arrive early enough on a Sunday. Thank you to all the people I met earlier today!”
