Just a lovely local pub with food. Laid back with friendly guests and very friendly staff. Lovely garden with funny and friendly dogs. Well worth a visit.

We came back from a lovely Sunday roast lunch at Lamb & Flag. Beef and chicken were scrumptious and we liked the way that green vegetables and cauliflower & cheese came separately. The ownes Roger and Jill were excellent and they even put out a dog drinking bowl for our two golden retrievers, plus a dog biscuits each before we left. We sat outside and was perfect for our two dogs.

We were visiting the area as a family unit for a few days. On the first evening we decided to visit this pub, which was very busy. We sat by the fire and enjoyed a lovely meal and drinks. It was all very pleasant. The service was good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I asked about booking Sunday lunch there but they were fully booked.

5 star for value and for the quality of the food. Friendly staff. This is not a glamour pub, but is a local rustic pub with a great local reputation for good and tasty food. Caters to families. We will be back and will bring family too.

Great !! Food and fabulous food and service . We had heartily recommended the gammon and fish and chips . We rang to see if we could bring the dogs into the garden . They reserved us a table in the garden complete with a dog water bowl . Free dog treat for each dog !! So thoughtful.

Great food and great service. Simple food done incredibly well. Beef and Guinness pie was a winner together with the cheesy chips. Thanks ♥️

The Lamb and Flag is an interesting conundrum. First impressions, which are so so important, are disappointing. The paint on the windows frames at the front is flaking in several places and both the website and answer phone message suggest that it is closed and only open for take away. If I hadn’t been there previously for a drink I would have assumed that they had not survived the pandemic. First impressions to one side, we did eventually manage to book Sunday lunch and it wasn’t bad at all. Plenty of good quality vegetables, delicious cauliflower cheese and a choice of three meats. If you’re a veggie you might be a little disappointed as, on the day we visited, the only non-meat option offered was vegetarian sausages (which were very nice). We weren’t offered a dessert (do they do them or was this a simple oversight?). This is a small pub and the economics of making this place pay (especially with socially distanced tables) must be a real challenge. As far as I am aware this is the only pub in the village and therefore deserves to be supported. The hosts are friendly and attentive and it was encouraging to hear that they were fully booked for lunch. We will return to try the mid-week fayre and occasionally for Sunday lunch. I will also use it for the odd pint now and again.
