We went for a date night but unfortunately wouldn't return. The food order was unfortunately incorrectly taken so my food came out first and my husbands about 10 mins or so after that. The beef brisket donut was cold and my Korean and pineapple chicken wasn't as expected ( I think I got a different chicken to what was ordered )My husbands ribs had next to no meat on them and I think the best part of the meal was my 2 for 1 bikini martini cocktails.

Went to celebrate a birthday. Initially service was swift, although once we had finished our main course the service was non existent. Had to chase staff finally. Felt rather ignored!!A lunch took 2 hours to complete.Food had mixed reviews from our party, some dishes were great and some were over salted or very dry.

We had a table booked for 2pm, we were seated and then just left there for quite some time with no menus, no offer of taking a drinks order. we had to go and find a menu and were just left there again. Other customers were complaining they had been there for hours! Staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. I saw a chef picking up food with his bear hands. So unfortunately we had to walk out and go elsewhere. Staff looked disinterested!!!

Came to have dinner for my wife's birthday. Seat by the window had a strong draft and so we sat wearing coats until the meal. Table got prepared and they laid the cutlery on the table then sprayed the table and cutlery with cleaner. We asked for new cutlery. Cocktails were not the best with the smoked old fashioned having no smoke, and being super sweet. The bar staff couldn't make an amaretto sour either which is a fairly common cocktail. Shared the beef platter as a main with a "Baba ganoush" side. The Baba ganoush was not a true Baba ganoush but just mashed aubergine without any tahini etc. the beef platter was tasty, but with no relief from the salt and richness of the food. No query on dessert for us either. The sitting area we were in had emptied out by 945pm so we left as well. A good meal, but nothing fantastic for her birthday unfortunately.

The Angler, Oakham.Lovely decor in their dining area and even though it was really chilly outside, it was lovely and warm in their conservatory dining area.I ordered a glass of Chardonnay, and was served a Pinot Grigio or similar.Server kept bumping me in a sort of shoulder bump familiar way. Which was most unpleasant. My first request on the menu ... unavailable. Then the server pushed me to order from the full a la carte menu instead of the lunch menu. The service lacking. The server wasn't to be seen once the food was placed on the table. (I had to go looking for assistance when I couldn't get the black pepper mill to turn, and when I wanted to pay.)I ordered Mac and Cheese - it honestly tasted like cheap packaged cheese sauce was used. I didn't enjoy it.

Unprofessional service, tried to charge me more than the price I had booked for. They didn't even take my name or check against my booking, and the room I got wasn't the room I'd booked. Having a fridge and a coffee pod machine in the room should be great, except neither worked. The room was clean though, and I had an acceptable private bathroom.

Food decidedly average, the rare beef and horseradish sandwich was overcooked minute steak with no horseradish. Advertised on Facebook as kids eat free during half-term to be told after we have eaten this is only In the evening. The icing on the cake was a member on staff on a teams meeting swearing in front of my child. We won't be returning.

We were looking for a place to have lunch and came across this nice pub. The menu looked promising so we decided to give it a go. Staff were really helpful and attentive. We ordered boneless chicken fried in their secret coating Korean BBQ sauce as a starter to share. I must say that it was amazing and significantly better than what I'd had eaten in a Korean restaurant in Cambridge a couple of days before. We had fish and chips from the lunch menu as main. The waitress told us portions were a bit smaller than those in the main menu. However, it was more than enough to fill us up completely. So much that we decided against ordering pudding, as tempting as the apple crumble with custard or the sticky date pudding with butter scotch sauce sounded. We will need to back for these :). Price surprisingly good for two people. I forgot to take pictures but it doesn't matter, it was a experience that will remain in my mind for a long time.

Initially we only came in for a new years day drink but ended up staying for dinner . Menu had lots to choose from . Kids menu was great. All ten of us thouroughly enjoyed our meals. Great atmosphere and friendly staff . Highly recommend

Unbelievably bad. I had The Mac Daddy: dry Cajun chicken with really thick slices of fat placed on top of the chicken, which had burnt black edges - this I realised was the bacon, which was disgusting and totally inedible. The worst meal I have ever been presented with.

We chose the angler as we had previously visited and had a lovely time there last Christmas and were given the same lovely, secluded dining area. We were the only table in at this time. As someone with an allergy it is already a scary experience eating somewhere new. To have so little options on the menu is unusual these days as most places will offer to cater to intolerances and allergies if their menu fails to provide adequate alternatives. I asked upon arrival about allergy information and was told that the menu would state what was gluten free with no further information. To my surprise there was only one option for a main which was honey glazed ham and chips. I searched for other options looking to see what could potentially be altered to suit my dietary requirements and asked if the steak could be made gluten free and if the peppercorn sauce contained gluten. The waitress said she’d ask and came back and said it was gluten free so I proceeded to order it as a rare. After the long wait, the steak came out the first time well seasoned and presented with fair sized sides which were garnished. Upon cutting into the steak I’d realised it was not rare but blue and was uncuttable. I asked if it was okay to have it put back on the grill for a little bit longer and if we could have some steak knives and the waitresses took it away and said it was no problem. It came back as a rare with an ungarnished salad, no peppercorn sauce on the side which was a £2.50 extra charge which I ultimately ended up paying for regardless of the fact it wasn’t received and was unseasoned. We asked several times for sauces and eventually 3 ramekins of sauce were provided to our table of 10 which was not nearly enough and we didnt bother to ask for more because it had taken so long in the first instance. To pay nearly £30 for an unfinished unseasoned meal is extortionate and as a someone who has worked as a waitress myself I didn’t want to continue complaining and put more stress on her as it appeared that she was new or just a bit nervous. After finishing my meal feeling slightly awkward for complaining I went home and was extremely ill and still am today along with 2 other members of our party who ordered the fish and chips. We ordered some different cocktails after seeing there was no longer a wine list which all tasted completely different each time we ordered them. A Margarita should not taste purely of lime cordial and neat tequila and the mojitos had a strange flavour during the second round we ordered. Once it was time to pay we were told if we wanted to pay separately we would have to head to the bar which is okay but we were not supplied with a copy of the bill to check over and tally up what we owed. We were met by a young woman at the bar who seemed disgruntled and had nothing to say besides asking what we ordered and telling how much we had to pay. It’s a shame to leave a negative review, we had expected a similar experience to last year’s but after paying close to £50 for a meal which was not good and ultimately gave me an allergic reaction is extremely unreasonable. The staff seemed undertrained, reluctant and unprepared. If the quality of the food and drinks has changed so drastically then the price should be altered accordingly.
