Once more tried to visit the angler after previous disappointment. We went to the comedy evening which was held in the cellar. The comedy evening itself was good fun, but the angler let themselves down. When we got there, there was barely anybody in the pub and when asked the waitress / barmaid didn’t know anything about the comedy club happening…. didn’t know it was on…Didn’t know what time it started. The food was good and reasonably priced however, waited an hour from ordering to receive our meals. If the restaurant had been busy and we had been told that there would be a wait, then that would have helped. Staff did not even come and check for drink refills.

Not as good as under the old management. Now the order to table service has gone, it feels like the clocks seem to have been turned back for those with mobility issues.I usually visit for a couple of hours, but left after thirty minutes.It is an unfortunate reflection on the town that only the two large chains are the only ones that have moved with the times, and offer a fully inclusive user experience.
