Restaurants in Anstruther
Craig Millar @ 16 West End
16 W End, St Monans, AnstrutherThis was our first visit for many years and our first experience of his tasting menu. We received a warm welcome and. were ushered straight into the restaurant. There is a small bar where we had pre dinner drinks last time and I would have liked to have started there. \n The restaurant is an extension out of the front of the house and has lovely views out to sea. Unfortunately we couldn’t see them as it was dark. The room was al little cold but i actually warmed up during the course of the evening, perhaps thanks to the wine I was enjoying! \n We went for the 5- course menu and I chose the premier wine pairing. My wife just had a glass of wine with her main course. The wine list is good with a wide choice of wine areas and styles to choose from. \n The food was excellent. It looked beautiful on the plate and tasted superb. Service was impeccable and the time between the dishes was just right. I enjoyed the explanations I got of each wine and the fact that they brought the bottle to the table so I could see it. \n It was expensive so somewhere to go for special occasions but it will certainly make the occasion very special and memorable.

The Shoregate
67 High St, Crail, AnstrutherWent to the Shoregate pub last week to listen to traditional Scottish music. It happens once a month. Musicians jamming, playing for pleasure not a performance as such. Very chilled. The place was packed - it was a lovely hot night in beautiful Crail. People were friendly. I didn't eat but this place has a great reputation for lovely food. I didn't stay in the hotel

Eastern Touch at Anstruther
35 Cunzie St, AnstrutherEnjoyed my Chicken Razela it’s a very nice dish! Husband felt his chicken madras could have been spicier. We have dined here a few times when visiting Anstruther! One big downside is the harsh lighting! It kills the atmosphere. I would hope as I am not only person to mention this a change would be made. The difference soft lighting would make would be a game changer \nStaff are lovely and helpful, mannerly and polite. \nPlease change lights!!

Fish and Chips on The Waterfront
14 Shore St, AnstrutherBest Fish and Chips in the whole of Scotland, I’ve tried everywhere from Ayrshire to Aberdeen, I’ve tried all three chip shops in anstruther, plus Murray’s so the four all together and these guys beat them all hands down, beautiful white fish in a very light crispy batter, chips are cooked perfectly too, lovely and crispy and soft potato in the middle. Only criticism I have is it’s 85p for one pickled onion! ? they’re 50p at a push. I’ll definitely be back, but may bring my own pickles ?

Dreel Tavern
16 High St W, AnstrutherINCREDIBLE.
Perfect blend of cosy pub and incredible seafood.
I wish I lived closer to this gem. The tagliatelle with haddock and smoked mussels was the best fish dish I’ve ever had. Really fresh ingredients, beautiful flavour and well presented. If I lived just 2 hours away from this place I would drive back just for this dish.
We had the salmon and caviar to start which was also amazing.

The Coastal Inn
14 John St, Cellardyke, AnstrutherExcellent overnight stay here at the Coastal Inn!
We booked a last minute break, and we're not disappointed...
Parking could be hit or miss, we were very lucky to get parked out front!
Lovely wee place... Duncan welcomed us with a friendly smile and chat, and took us to our room, which was nice!
Private locked stairwell, locked room with en suite bathroom. Huge bed, clearly recently decorated... Everything you'd need, wardrobe, drawers, kettle etc... bathroom was large, walk in shower.
Everything was clean and tidy.
Duncan was happy to give us directions, tips on where to eat etc.
Very easy walk to get back into Anstruther, which had some stunning views!
The bar downstairs was good, friendly.
Breakfast was a SO well cooked and delicious, all the usuals, with a large selection of extras, cereal, fruit, toast etc...
Can't fault.
Would recommend!
Would go back!

Masonic Arms
12 Shore St, AnstrutherMy grandmother and I had some time to kill waiting for the bus. Came in here and I loved it! Lovely old pub that probably hasn't changed for decades. I am sad I won't be able to return soon as I'm only visiting here. I would have loved to see this pub on a more busy night, But I will be back! Thanks for the friendly welcome and the crisp pint of Tennent's!

Fortune House
1 John St, Cellardyke, AnstrutherCalled the locall Chinese who delivered to our caravan. I had low expectations as delivery was not that near us.
I have to say I was more than happy with the Chinese.
The food is piping hot and delivers on time although a large order. I haven't had such a tasty takeaway and everything we had was top notch.
Can't wait to come back and get another takeaway from Fortune House.
Great portions and price. ?

DAN'S GOODS CRAIL
2 High St, South, Crail, AnstrutherI've just had a lovely sausage roll and a nice latte for dinner from here. There is a good stock of the usual goods to be found in a shop of this size, including a variety of hot filled rolls. The server was polite, prompt, and very friendly. She even offered to heat up my sausage roll, great customer service. You have now got another return customer.Parking: Council Parking Attendants patrol this area so stay off the double yellow lines.

Anstruther Fish Bar
42 - 44 Shore St, AnstrutherWe chose the takeaway option and queued for 30 minutes but the fish was delicious and worth the wait. The restaurant was very busy and we could see that all the food was served on paper plates with disposable cups for drinks. The prices were more for eating in which you’d expect but I’d have been disappointed if we’d done so and received takeaway plates etc.
