My wife and I popped in while on a short break in the area. The best scones we have ever had, fresh and hot. Lovely.

Popped in for a bit of lunch today as the place had been recommended to us from the scottish country dance scene! The owner recognised us from being at one of the places he played in. The lunch was very good. Husband having fruit scone and a latte and self a cheese and tomatoe panini.Both very tasty. Would highly recommend it.

I cannot rate Pumpernickel highly enough, the food was simply amazing. Catered fully for vegans with lots of choice, the tamarind tofu and veg & mushroom Bao buns were delicious. The portion sizes were great for the price & they made a great coffee too. When visiting Dumfries I would recommend this to anyone - It had options for everyone. The cakes looked great, if only we weren’t so full from lunch!! Maybe next time :)

So happy to find this little place while on holiday.We popped in for coffee & cakes & we were pleasantly surprised.The gentleman waiting on us was polite and helpful.Everything on the menu was vegetarian with many things able to be made vegan.The cakes were delicious & we've recommended pumpernickel to all our veggie & vegan friends & family if they're in Dumfries.Next time we're up here we'll definitely be back.

This was one of those events that is a surprise and nothing other than sheer tastebud pleasure. As an unassuming cafe nothing could make you aware that you about to enjoy a delicious meal that was fully vegan and delightful. Not only was the food superb the service by the friendly owner made us feel as if we were part of the family.

Wonderful food. Vegetarian with mostly Vietnamese dishes such as spring rolls and dumplings. I had fried tofu with lemongrass, served with noodles. It's made with a lot of fresh vegetables. It was delicious and nutritious. Lovely staff too.

Pumpernickel didn’t show up on a Happy Cow app search for Dumfries so we were delighted to come across it. The menu has traditional British and also Thai food. We had a curry and a noodle dish for lunch. Huge portions, amazing flavours and excellent value. A big cabinet of vegan friendly cakes too.

Dropped in for breakfast and later on I wish I had looked at the menu properly(forgot glasses)there is an Asian menu as well.Lovely wee bit on the Vennel in Dumfries that I've not been in for years.The menu is vegetarian & vegan and is first rate, you'll not be disappointed
