What a lovely welcoming pub. The decor is lovely feels like a proper pub, but mainly more impressed by the warm and friendly service from the land lady on Christmas Eve. I reckon more pubs would be busier if they had this level of customer service. A visitor to Dumfries regularly so we will definitely be back.The world ? is a strange place at the moment and I love the caring ethos of this pub. i hope Christmas day goes well for you and you have lovely time.

Looking for a pub and found this little gem, atmosphere was great, friendly locals and pub is dog friendly. We met another Sandy dog who was so cute! Jukebox has a great mix of tunes

I loved my visit to the Lantern. The Lyver was my go to bar in Dumfries in the 90s. I went for the crowd, not the health and safety! Anyway, everything has been retained in the reopening. The pictures on the walls, the friendly folk but with a lovely clean toilet that doesn’t have mushrooms growing from odd places. Bravo to whoever saw it was worth keeping.
