Only had 1 real ale on ,but it was good and well kept. The barmaid and locals were very friendly, having just popped in while waiting for the bus back to Carlisle after a walk .Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Unsure from the outside , but went in , friendly doggy welcome , plenty of space , mix of locals and fellow walkers . Good service , and fairly priced decent basic pub grub . Oh and nice ale .

End of a coast to coast walk last Friday (29/9/23) and a night here. There’s a really good atmosphere here with the locals and various walking groups staring my and finishing. Best Cumberland sausage of our whole trip and just a great feel good place. Good chat with the land lady over a huge brekkie finished it off brilliantly.

Stayed overnight prior to commencing the Hadrian's Wall Walk. The Pub is ideally placed and Annette and the rest of the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food was good and the atmosphere relaxed. All in all a great place to stay.

A great place to celebrate the end of walking Hadrian's Wall. The team there are super friendly! We met up with other walkers we had met on the way and we had an enjoyable evening.

Great pub to have a couple of pints after finishing hadrian’s wall path. We really liked the fish and chips and the service was excellent. Make sure you write the book and share your wall path adventures. Cheers!
