“Absolutely amazing! Visited here during a trip to Edinburgh and have been thinking about it since. Ordered haggis with cheese mash potatoes. Service was also great and there's an interesting mushroom farm next to the bathroom. Please re-open your London location!”

“What a great welcoming to Edinburgh! Everyone was super friendly and extremely attentive. I was by myself and they made sure that I had a table and was comfortable. The food was delicious, I had the fish and chips and the fish was very fresh, and seasoned to perfection! Overall, superb service and atmosphere! If the staff reads this…. Thank you so much for your kindness and friendliness! Great experience!”

“Super chill local pub right on the water with nice views. It was cold and rainy the day I was here so it was a nice stop for a great lunch. Met some nice local guys who took the time to explain the cricket game on the TV. Now for the food... OMG... the freshest fish. Fish & Chips was fabulous and a Huge plate. Calamari was just caught and fried.... Absolutely to die for. Accompanied by a Thistly Cross which is a dry cider aged in a whiskey barrel. Very different, very good and not sweet. My type of cider!”

“I travelled to Edinburgh for the first time on a solo holiday and wanted to treat myself to a good dinner whilst I was here, and Under The Stairs did not disappoint. Firstly the decor, atmosphere and vibe of the place was an absolute dream. Dim lighting, mismatched furniture, good music, it was super relaxing and somewhere you wanted to be and stay in. I honestly could have fallen asleep there it was so chilled ?. The service from the staff there was impeccable. I literally could not fault it, they were so friendly and welcoming. Ambika (I hope I've spelt your name correctly??) was the loveliest and most accomodating host & server. Now onto the food... I can honestly say it was some of the nicest food I've tasted. I ordered some of the small plates to get a variety and every single plate tasted amazing. Everything had I enjoyed. The plates were left clean I tell you. The cocktails were so good too, they made my favourite, Negroni Sbaglliato and it was incredible. If you want a memorable evening in a chilled, cosy, warm location with exceptional food and drink, go to Under The Stairs. You won't be disappointed!”

“Genuinely one of the best gastropubs I’ve been to.We went on a quiet Monday night, our first evening in Edinburgh. Sam and Freya were so friendly and made us feel right at home with good banter and fantastic suggestions. The meal itself was great. We ordered two burgers which came with a generous serving of salad and fries. Surprisingly good price too. The burger was amazing; juicy, absolutely full of food and cooked to perfection. The kiwi bloke behind the grill knows what he’s doing.Overall I wish we had more time in Edinburgh so we could return - a highlight of our stay! Thanks team!”

“We first tried to go to Nobles, a beautiful old restaurant in Leith, on Saturday, July 15 but we foolishly did not have a reservation. The restaurant was packed! We came the next night and it was much quieter. I was with my husband, our son and two daughters. We ordered drinks and three of us ordered the Steak Frites. One daughter had the Cod and the other daughter had the Chicken Bun. We had seen "Sunday Roast" on the sign outside and my son was hoping to order a Sunday Roast dinner. But I think that Sunday Roast is the name of the menu and is not actually "on" the menu! At the end of the meal, our server had disappeared for quite a while. I went up to the bar and was able to pay for the meal there.”

“Came here for dinner a few weeks ago and the food was great! We had the lobster roll special and it was amazing. I asked to substitute the fries for salad, which they accommodated. Our waiter, Samuel, was wonderful. Very cheerful, pleasant, and lovely all around! Would definitely recommend!”

“We ate and drank here a few times on our most recent trip to Scotland. Great atmosphere and food. Be sure to make a reservation if you plan to arrive after about 5:00. Our last time in we waited an hour on a table, but it was worth it. Drank a few pints at the bar while we waited.”
