Reviews for The Royal McGregor

We made reservations since we had a big group of seven people. The restaurant wasn’t too big but sat us comfortably. It wasn’t super busy either. I ordered the Steak and Ale Pie with a Shirley Temple. They had traditional Scottish food like haggis too. The food and drinks were really good and made me pretty full. I also ordered dessert, Cranachan, but I thought it was pretty expensive for what it was. My friends also ordered a flight of whiskey and enjoyed their drinks.

Visited in the mid-afternoon. Two of us had the Crofter's Chicken and the other two had the Fisherman's Pie. The chicken was cooked well and the whisky sauce was flavorful. The Fisherman's Pie had large pieces of salmon and haddock. Service was attentive and the place was clean. We would definitely eat here again when visiting Edinburgh.

I pre booked a table at the Royal McGregor before we travelled to Edinburgh. The menu was varied and there was something on it for everyone. The food was absolutely gorgeous I had the vegan chilli and cheesecake, some of our party had the sticky toffee pudding which was light and tasty. A lovely little restaurant on the Royal Mile with great food and friendly staff
