Sunday carvery. Food was good enough but wasn’t hot , never saw them check food temperature at anytime. Poor young girl was trying to carve meats on metal trays with obviously very blunt knifes ! And making very slow and bad job of it. Very disorganised and slow service. We were a table of 8 and by the time the last person got a plate of food the first person was finished eating. Seemed to be plenty staff but they didn’t work as a team. Would we recommend it ?. Yes but be prepared for the slow and chaotic service.

Lunch in a very nice restaurant with good options on menu. Catered for myself and my partner and guide dog in training.

Attended for the Sunday carvery… a little disappointed. It used to be 10/10 The steak pie had no chunks of meat it was all “pulled pork” like consistency but pretty much 80% gravy , half the roast potatoes were burnt and had no potato in them, Yorkshire puddings burnt, cold, left out for a while very stodgy. One member of our group had macaroni cheese instead of the carvery and it was prepared badly due the huge amount of oils that was sitting on top of the dish from the cheese, it tasted like tinned macaroni with extra cheese on top again nothing like it used to be. Overheard another customer asking if the gravy was made from the juices from the meat and she was told it’s just gravy granules (it used to be made from meat juices and was lovely!) good points - waitress was very kind, polite and helpful, the gammon tasted nice, the puddings were good.. over all the standard has came down a lot

Lovely meal out with friends. Wouldn't have found this place as its off a wee side street but it was recommended to us and very glad it was! I had steak pie which was a huge serving for the price. Lovely pasty and large chunks of meat in gravy. My friend had the mac and cheese which she loved and considering she is very picky that was impressive. We were both too stuffed for pudding but will certainly come back again to try their sticky toffee pudding. On a side note a table over from us had a number of children behaving like children do, the waitress was nothing but smiles, bringing them extra napkins after they spilled a drink and threw others on the floor and even brought them all a sweet before they left. Was lovely to see.

First time back to the Queen Street tavern since re-openig for lunch. Not a massive menu but I think this is the way to go as the quality of the food was first class. better quality than quantity. The waitress was very friendly and good at her job its obvious the restaurant is needing a bit of TLC but there is definitely improvement since my last visit.I wish the new landlord every success.
