Excellent food & service. They get swamped with tourists and handle it all quickly. The Mac & cheese was delicious and the Haggis, Neeps, & Tatties fantastic with whiskey sauce. Great place to have a nice sit down meal.

Look no further for Nessie!The monster is in the restaurant!Terrible welcome, the two waitresses had no one to serve but we immediately felt that our presence annoyed them:Not a hello.They wouldn't let us sit where we wanted.We are quickly given the cards without presenting anything to us.Never responded to our signs/smiles (3 times) to ask her for more sauce for our fries (while she was looking at us) forced to get up to do it herself.Brief ! I won't judge the food because we only had frozen fries (we only had 30 minutes so that was the only option apparently)We never leave reviews, but future customers deserve to know where they are going!

I'm writing to apologise to the 2 waitresses, they seemed extremely put out that we wanted to eat here today! Not once did they smile or even look at us. My mam asked for a cup of tea to be told they don't do hot drinks!? The food was mediocre and after eating it we were told the kitchen was closed and would we be needing anything else! I could get over the food but because of the waitresses attitudes we won't be going back!

While staying in the area,my partner and I wanted to try the food in this pub.The previous night we couldn't get in as they are only open for food until 6.45 apparently.The next evening we got there earlier and was greeted by a very unfriendly waitress,all throughout the meal the two waitresses were very unfriendly and rude. The food was average. Don't bother .
I went here in December and found this place rather dissatisfying.At 13h30 as soon as I sat down I was already told that I should choose because the kitchen is closing. I ordered a steak pie and within 3 min of ordering the food came ( a good indicator that it's probably been standing in the kitchen for a while just being kept warm)The pie was good, but the peas weren't cooked at all. While I was still eating the waitress just put ofd the lights and started cleaning.All while in the background the TV is blaring the news.... It almost feels like they don't want customers at all

Our group of three Peruvians and one Asian American, exploring the UK for the past two weeks, recently faced our first disappointing restaurant experience at Bothy Restaurant & Bar in Fort Augustus, Scotland (We came in around 4:15pm on December 12, 2023). Despite initiating a greeting, the blonde-haired barmaid did not respond, leaving us with no choice but to seat ourselves. It seemed as though we were interrupting her time with friends at the bar, contributing to an unwelcoming atmosphere.Additionally, when we inquired about seating and the available menu, her response was cold and annoyed and she stated only drinks were available. She failed to mention that the kitchen opens at 5 pm, which we only knew beforehand due to the sign at the entrance. To further add to our dismay, one of her friends, an older heavyset male (unclear if a staff member or not), exhibited unprofessional behavior.Considering this initial unpleasant exchange, we decided not to eat or spend any money at Bothy Restaurant & Bar. It's perplexing how they maintain a 4-star rating with over 1,000 reviews – perhaps this is indicative of experiences when the blonde barmaid isn't working. Unfortunately, we couldn't discern whether our unfavorable treatment was due to being tourists or possibly rooted in racism. We hope this feedback contributes to a more positive and welcoming environment for future patrons.

We were about to stay for some drinks and eat some chips&nuts but since the chubby old lady with short hair was so rude to us we decided not to stay. Like this it’s impossible to enjoy a restaurant or service. You should pick your employers

I was here yesterday from a bus tour. First time in Loch Ness. We had the worst customer service here with my friends. We had a table of four. We asked to sit by the fire place and we were told no, and seated elsewhere. The waitresses didn’t smile when we entered. When one came to take our order…. She said we had to order quickly because the kitchen was closing. The time was between 1:30PM and 1:45PM. We quickly ordered soup of the day. When it came time to pay the man at the bar, he explained that he wouldn’t split the bill for cards because there is a charge for each card transaction. Which is understandable so we offered to pay him separately in cash and he also refused. He wanted one of us to pay and we would sort it out between us. He also didn’t smile. We felt like we were not welcomed or appreciated. I would never return here. It’s so disappointing because I was hoping Loch Ness would be a positive experience. Just left a bad impression. We felt rushed, unwelcome, and also uncomfortable.
