This establishment has easily got to be my favourite bar in Scotland.The landlord is very welcoming. The bar area is spotlessly clean, and the beer was excellent. The pub is dog friendly, which is a bonus as I have 2.The pub has a great feeling about it, which is hard to describe.I will definitely be visiting next year when we return to Scotland.

In contrast to many recent negative reviews, our group of four had a good experience in the dining room. There was a full menu, in contrast to many establishments with limited menus due to staff shortages. Greeting and service throughout was fine. The food was good— nothing to complain about. Facing off with the crowds in little Fort Augustus you can feel lucky just to find a place to eat, but this was actually quite nice.

There’s not a great choice to eat in the town and the place looks nice and right beside the canal locks, hit it for lunch bang on noon, not open, opened 5 mins late and immediately filled, older gent behind the bar very chatty and pleasant, but, the lady at front of house in the restaurant needs some etiquette skills, very direct and on the verge of rude. We are Scottish but most other tourist we American,English, Chinese …, she may be used to a firm hand to reign in the foreigners...read full review
