Very quirky. Open fireplace in the en-suite beside the free-standing bath...The comfiest bed - a four-poster!Whole place in need of redecorating but seemed clean enough.Every surface covered in pictures, knick-knacks, interesting oddments.Menu with heavy American influence (the owner is from Pennsylvania) which was fun to sample, and staff were excellent.Renowned for great selection of real ales and whiskies which didn't disappoint.Very dog-friendly which was a big plus for us.A little bit pricey for the standard and quality of decor, we thought.

Great place to eat. Simple menu with some interesting twists. Extensive whisky menu with a lot of unusual choices. Staff were very efficient but also made you feel very welcome.

Three course meal on a Wednesday evening, absolutely delicious. Food good size portions (not too big so space for pudding!) very accommodating of our dog

Bijzondere ervaring.

Based on the positive reviews, we went for dinner with the kids. Our experience was less positive regarding the food. My husband had a mix grill and the vegetables were not tasty and not much. The kids had a pizza that was burnt. The service was very friendly but the food was really not good and tasty. For us it was a disappointment of Scotland's last night!

Lovely atmosphere and excellent meal despite the comments from the locals. Friendly knowledgeable staff with an excellent selection of beers, both local and further afield. If you're a whisky fan this place has everything. Would definitely recommend ?

Do you like food? Do you like food with so much flavour that you'll hear Angela sing and make you want to cry? We've been visiting Fortrose for a few years now and somehow missed this by.If you want a meal that you'll talk about to your friends and think about how you could make the 350 mile round trip just for a meal this is the place. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent food and the staff are all friendly. Quirky Hotel but is very nice. Very dog-friendly even breakfast for the dog and a soft mat to lie on beside our table. Going back this September 2023, and very much looking forward to it.

Believe the hype! This is a great pub: idiosyncratic, knowledgeable staff and a wonderful choice of beers (including a fab Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel). The food was great and I highly recommend the pork ribs: proper grub! If in Fortrose it's a must visit.

The owner, Jim, was fantastic. This is an off beat, quirky place and we loved it. The food was outstanding, beverage selection was also very good.Food & drinks: More whiskey that you can count, lots of belgian beers on as well.

We loved this place. The food was really great but the best thing was the staff. They were absolutely brilliant with our 2 dogs. They fave them rugs to lie on and brought them water. They remembered their names when we went back the next evening (because we loved it so much). Special thanks to Isatou and Hugo who served us and were brilliant. Fortrose was a great place to stay. Beautiful and a short walk to look for dolphins at Chanonry Point. Highly recommend The Anderson if you are visiting.

Just popped in for food and a drink. Did not disappoint, such a welcoming atmosphere. The philly cheese steak was unreal! Alastair was a fabulous host, knows his stuff about whiskey and the area. Will definitely come back if we find ourselves in the area ?

We came here on our north coast 500 holiday. It was recommended to us by the owner of the camp site we stayed on and it did not disappoint. The staff were great and really friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic! One of the coolest pubs I’ve ever been to
